An Unused Attic Becomes a Stylish Hangout

If your attic collects more dust than compliments, this stylish makeover story will inspire you to make a change. Shannon Wollack and Brittany Zwickl of Los Angeles-based design firm LIFE.STYLE transformed their client's attic into a polished place to host their grandchildren. Limited to the narrow confines of an English Tudor, Shannon and Brittany relied on custom storage, a monochromatic color scheme, and the right mix of sophistication and whimsy to pull off the redesign.

This picture shows just how dark and barren the attic was before the renovation.

Brightening up the space was only half of the objective. As retired grandparents, Shannon and Brittany's clients wanted the attic to become a place where they could host their grandchildren for playdates and big sleepovers.

To provide as many places to sleep as possible, Shannon and Brittany included two twin-size beds with pullout trundles. How gorgeous is this brass hardware?

By using this Osborne & Little wallpaper on the sloping walls, the space feels more open and polished.

This beautiful light fixture is a wink to the wallpaper's graphic star motif.

Instead of taking up floor space with furniture, built-in shelves were installed to provide extra storage for books and toys.

Even the window seat can become an extra bed!
