How to Do Winged Eye Makeup
How to Get the Perfect Winged Smoky Eye Every Time
Not another smoky eye! That's what we're generally screaming by the end of award season. But at the Golden Globes, Jessica Chastain surprised us (and we're not easily impressed). She matched her deep-brown eye makeup to her chocolate Atelier Versace gown. The winged shadow shape and muted coffee shade surpassed the average black eye makeup we're accustomed to seeing on the red carpet.
Jessica's unique look was originally created by Kristofer Buckle using Yves Saint Laurent makeup, but we enlisted the help of makeup artist Maria Cristina Marroquin at Butterfly Studio Salon in NYC to DIY her award show style. Let's get real: no one can draw a straight wing without serious skill (and our hands always seem to shake), so Marroquin revealed a simple hack for getting angled eye makeup right — on the first try! Keep reading to see how it's done.
