Start with your brows. “You want them to be wispy and not so finished,” said Christiane. “So just use a clear brow gel over them.” Opt for clear gel instead of a pencil or shadow to get a more natural, unfinished look like Ariana. It will still shape your face. Move the bristles of the wand up and then over, starting from the inner corner.

Layer a primer (such as Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion, $12) over the eyelid. “This is going to keep the shadow on and help it from creasing, Christiane explained. Go over it with an eye shadow base that works with your skin tone. For this, Christiane chose a nude with a little shine that will seep through the shadow layers. Apply it from the lash line to the brow bone.

Coat the eyelid with a bright rose-gold eye shadow. Use a synthetic brush because the bristles will really grab the pigment and help it glide over easily.

Soften the lid with a brick-brown eye shadow applied with a smaller synthetic brush. “Go over the eyelid crease like you are washing a window,” Christiane said.

Highlight the brow bone with a shimmery champagne color. Run the brush under the middle to outer edge of your arch.

Apply the brick-brown eye shadow on the lash line to highlight the eyes before adding black eyeliner. Use a gel liner applied with an angled brush, starting from the middle and working out on both sides. “I am tapping it in, and then feathering it,” Christiane explained of her delicate strokes. Then, go over your gel liner with matte black eye shadow to set it.

Using a black pencil, draw a line on the bottom waterline. “People say going inside the lashes closes the eye more, but I think it opens the eye up completely,” Christiane noted.

If you end up with crumbled eye shadow and smeared liner beneath your eyes, clean it up with makeup remover. This is why Christiane does the eyes before the face — it leaves room for easily fixed messed.

Swipe concealer underneath the eye with a brush and tap it in. You can also use your fingers to do this. Set it with powder.

Then, apply concealer along the bridge of the nose, the top the brow area, and around the lips to highlight those areas. Consider this your contouring.

Blend it in with a sponge, such as the beautyblender ($20). “While it’s a little costly, I love this sponge,” Christiane enthused. “It doesn’t soak up on the concealer or the foundation. What you see is what you get. It glides on very smooths and gives it a nice airbrush look afterwards.”

Apply a tinted moisturizer all over. “It’s amazing, because it’s just a tint of color instead of a heavy foundation,” Christiane said. “And for someone who has amazing skin, all you need is a little.” Take your contouring game even further by using a yellow foundation (to “highlight and lift” Christiane noted) under the eyes and around the hairline edges. Don’t forget to blend!

Dust bronzer across the bridge of the nose and on the cheekbones to give bone structure more definition. Then add blush to the apples of the cheeks to warm up the face.

Start with the bottom mascara, and just swivel the brush in.

Use the mascara wand instead of a lash curler to to make your lashes flip up. Do this by rolling the wand against the middle of your top lashes, gently pulling then up.

Starting from the middle of the bottom lip, work your way out with a brush, applying a youthful bubblegum-pink lipstick. Work from the ends of the top lip to the middle, outlining it with the brush. Fill lips in with color.

“This is something Ariana Grande would be wearing on stage,” Christiane said. “It pops a for pictures and looks very fresh, young, gorgeous, and popstar-ish!”
