If you haven't caught on just yet, the lips are probably the most serviced area when it comes to beauty launches these days. I remember a time when an influx of mascaras, texturizing sprays, and BB creams was the norm. In the past two years, it seems, the industry experts are smartly doubling down on lips. Who can blame them? According to Google Trends, the term "lip injections" is currently at peak popularity in April 2017, gaining steam from 2016 and doubling in search since April 2015 — around the time Kylie Jenner announced she was augmenting her lips. The interest in liquid lipstick has also remained constant since this time last year.

That said, lip products are seemingly becoming redundant. Another day, another liquid lipstick. Lately, it's been all about hologram lip toppers. That's why I've been surprised by three innovative products that recently made their way to my desk: a clay mask, a peel, and a silicone brush duo made specifically to prep and pamper your lips ahead of lining, contouring, and applying lipstick.

Check out these new launches and let me know which one you'd pick up in the comments.

Stacked Skincare Hydrating Lip Peel

Stacked Skincare Hydrating Lip Peel

Stacked Skincare, which specializes in at-home peels, has come out with the Hydrating Lip Peel ($26). It's a bit of a head-scratcher, mostly because most people don't associate peels with hydrating the skin. But it works two-fold: first, glycolic acid sloughs off dead skin on the lips and works over time to help smooth out lines. Then, ingredients like lactic acid and apple fruit extract hydrate, plump, and nourish the lips.

If your lips are chronically chapped, peeling, or have dead skin on them, you can use this without it stinging or burning. That's the other thing: it is a peel but it doesn't hurt, and you don't notice sheets of skin hanging off your lips, either. After you apply, let it sit for a few minutes and then feel free to apply lipstick, gloss, whatever. There is a tartness when you lick your lips, but it's more like a sour apple flavor than a medicinal taste.

Nurse Jamie NuLips Rx Moisturizing Lip Balm and Lip Brush

Nurse Jamie NuLips Rx Moisturizing Lip Balm and Lip Brush

This is a lip kit for those of you who hate lip liner and liquid lipstick. Nurse Jamie takes care of everyone — seriously, look at her Instagram — in Hollywood. Stars flock to Jamie for natural-looking skin treatments and her light hand when it comes to injectables like Botox and Juvaderm. (I saw not one but three A-list actors at her spa in Santa Monica in the span of two hours.)

Her lip kit, NuLips Rx ($26), exfoliates ands softens the lips, and while doing so, it increases blood circulation to your pout to help give it a nice flush. First, use the silicone exfoliating lip tool to get rid of dead skin. It's easy to use and isn't as abrasive as using a toothbrush or a paper towel. Then use the lip balm to help hydrate and plump — the active ingredient is hyaluronic acid. Plus, no petroleum is used in this balm, so your lips will be left soft, not greasy.

The Sweet Clay Lip Mask by Sara Happ

The Sweet Clay Lip Mask by Sara Happ

Sara Happ trailblazes in the lip category — after all, her entire line is dedicated to your pucker. And her newest launch is a lot of fun: The Sweet Clay Lip Mask ($32) helps to firm and, yes, soften your lips.

It's the color of pink cotton candy, so it's almost like an opaque lipstick when you apply. Leave it on for 20 minutes (or less), then rinse with a wet wash cloth. Bentonite clay — the same ingredient in some of your favorite clay face masks — helps to firm the lips, while swertiamarin, an Ayurvedic herb, helps to soothe the skin.
