You'll Drop Your Pink Drink on the Floor When You See James Charles's Neon Skeleton Look

We've been loving the neon makeup look for a while now, then neon skeletons came along and we became even more obsessed. Now, James Charles has blessed us with his version of the neon skull, and of course, it's incredible. In true Mean Girls fashion, if James Charles does a neon skeleton for Halloween, we're going to do a neon skeleton for Halloween.

So, stop whatever you're doing. Cancel all your weekend plans, because you've got some practicing to do! Grab your pink drinks, people. It's time to learn neon makeup.

Step 1

After priming his face and applying foundation off camera, James starts with the eye makeup. Throughout the tutorial he uses the Morphe 35B Eyeshadow Palette ($23). (Get 10 percent off Morphe brushes with code James. You're welcome.)

Step 2

Now to create the eye look that literally makes us wave our hands around in "yaaas queen" admiration.

He uses the right-hand row of shadow colors on the palette, first going in with the light blue color (second from top) as the transition shade. He takes the color into the crease and also creates a slight wing. Then he takes the top darker blue shade (third from top) to darken out the crease. Next James takes the darker blue shade (fourth from top) to deepen all the shades together. He then takes a little bit of black shadow to blend out the outer corner of the eye and wing.

Finally, he uses the Kat Von D Lock-It Concealer Crème ($26) for the cut crease then packs on MAC Reflects Teal Glitter ($22) to make the eyes pop.

Step 3

James starts to sketch out the shape of a skull using white liner. If you struggle with the skull outline, try replicating a photo to make it easier.

Step 4

James traces over the white liner with the bright blue shade from the same Morphe palette (second from top) to blend out the white lines. He then goes over this with the darker blue shade (third from top) to go over these lines and create dimension.

Step 5

Once all the blue lines are complete, James takes the black shade and carefully fills in the area in between the skull outline. Once all the black is blended, he goes back into the blue and blends out the blue skull outline. If you're re-creating this at home, layer like you've never layered before.

Step 6

Here comes the difficult bit; James advises going really slowly with this. He takes NYX White Liquid Liner ($7) and traces over the center of the blue outlines to create the neon effect.

If you're feeling a little extra like James, go back into the MAC Reflects Teal Glitter ($22) and trace over the white lines. He then finishes off the look with lashes.
