When celebrity makeup artist Patrick Ta announced the release of the Monochromatic Moment collection, I was instantly intrigued. He's known for making his famous clients look glowing and naturally glamorous, an aesthetic I wouldn't mind achieving. I was particularly interested in the fact that the color scheme of his new products was made up of warm browns and pinks, which seemed interesting given many beauty brands are coming out with makeup in increasingly brighter colors.

While Ta's products still look luxurious given their glossy rose gold packaging, they also seemed very practical. Each one struck me as a reliable staple I could add to my cosmetic wardrobe and could wear daily at work. I eagerly tested them out to find out if they would live up to my expectations. Check out what I thought, ahead.

The Lip Liner

First, I tested out the Monochrome Moment Precision Lip Crayons ($26), which click up from the bottom of the narrow metallic tube like a mechanical pencil. The formula is creamy enough so that it did not drag across my lips, but was still solid enough not to smear. I appreciated the slanted tip of the pencil, which made it easy to outline my defined cupid's bow precisely. Once I had filled in my lips, I liked how comfortable the product was to wear, and valued how natural-looking the pink-brown "She's Proud" color was. The product is a little more expensive than I would typically spend on a lip pencil, but if you're looking for a luxury option, this one is superb.

The Lip Cream

I initially wasn't sure what to expect from the Silky Lip Crème ($24), and wrongly assumed it would be similar to a liquid lip. Instead, the cream felt like a lightweight gloss and gave me all of the color payoff of a conventional lipstick with added shine. It also did not feel the least bit drying, giving my lips a wet-looking finish.

It layered easily over the lip liner without smearing or dragging. The formula also includes hydrating hyaluronic acid, which makes it comfortable to wear all day. The color I tried, "She's Independent," was slightly deeper than my natural lip color, making it equally as work-appropriate as it was effortless to wear.

The Blush

I was most skeptical about the Patrick Ta Monochrome Moment Velvet Blush ($32) due to its sheer finish when I swatched it on my hand. However, when I placed a fluffy brush into the powder and swept it over my cheeks, it instantly made me look more awake.

The pink color, "She's Passionate," took my complexion from dull and tired to radiant and bright. Plus, the pigment was buildable, allowing me to adjust the saturation of the shade. The edges of where I applied the brush blended out smoothly, and adding on more never made it look patchy. As the last step, I chose the deepest shade, "She's Seductive," and lightly went over the temples of my forehead for a little added glow. These blushes took me from looking pale and tired to fresh-faced and perky, and for that, I am very grateful.
