With COVID-19 (coronavirus) putting a halt to everyday life for millions of people around the world, some beauty brands are taking action against the pandemic. As an increasing amount of retailers announced indefinite closures of their store locations in the US and beyond earlier this week, others are using this as an opportunity to give back.

A handful of our favorite brands, from Glossier to MAC, have redirected some of their focus to those directly affected by the disease, whether it be people who are unable to work and provide for themselves due to lockdown policies or healthcare workers who are currently on the frontlines of the crisis. MAC

On April 2, MAC announced via Miley Cyrus's Bright Minded series on Instagram that the brand will donate $10 million to 250 organizations around the world via its Viva Glam campaign. All proceeds will help support at-risk communities and those affected by COVID-19.

Peace Out Skin Care

Peace Out, the bestselling skincare brand at Sephora founded by Enrico Frezza, announced last week that it would be donating 10 percent of its online sales to the hospitals in Milan, Italy, where Frezza is from. In addition, customers can use the promo code "LOVE20" for 10 percent of sales to be donated to families and high-risk people affected by the pandemic.

Hiki

The newly launched vegan, cruelty-free body care brand Hiki will donate two free products to hospital and medical facility workers who use the hashtag #TodayImFeeling on Instagram and tag @arfabrands.

#mydentity

Henkel-owned hair brand #mydentity and founder Guy Tang are donating $1 million-worth of products to various organizations, including Mary's Place, Family Rescue, Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, Vision House, among others, to support front-line and essential workers across the globe.

The Crème Shop

Due to a critical shortage of surgical masks in hospitals and urgent care clinics around the globe, The Crème Shop pledged to donate N95 masks to customers and hospitals running low on supplies.

Grande Cosmetics

Grande Cosmetics will donate 15 percent of its earnings to Feeding America from now until March 31.

La Roche-Posay

L'Oreal-owned brand La Roche-Posay will donate nearly 1 million hand-sanitizer gels to hospitals and clinics across the country, as well as distribute 5 million to pharmacies in April to help with the shortage around the world.

Sunday Riley

The skincare brand recently donated 500 jars of its C.E.O. Vitamin C Cream to 13 US hospitals "in efforts to help their dry, irritated skin from wearing masks for so long."

Coty

Coty Inc, the parent company of CoverGirl, Sally Hansen, and Calvin Klein fragrances, is currently producing hand sanitizers for medical professionals and emergency services.

Billie

Billie is donating $100,000 to local food banks across the country working to serve the needs of those affected by the outbreak.

Lipslut

Lipslut will be donating 100% of its earnings from the sale of its RGD lip shade to organizations that help those affected by COVID-19. That includes Feeding America, Doctors Without Borders, and No Kid Hungry.

Unilever

The parent company behind many drugstore favorites like Dove, Suave, and Tresemme has committed to donating $20 million in products and services to fight against COVID-19. Its most immediately courses of action include donating $8 million through donations of food, soap, personal hygiene, and home cleaning products to its partner Feeding America and donating more than 200,000 masks to local hospitals in New Jersey to help protect health care professionals.

Sky Organics

Sky Organics is donating $10,000 to two nonprofit organizations supporting COVID-relief efforts: Feeding America and Restaurant Workers' Community Foundation. The latter organization provides relief to restaurant workers who have lost a significant part of their income due to the ongoing crisis.

RMS Beauty

Fifty percent of the sales from RMS Beauty's Wild With Desire lipstick in the shade "Monterey" will go to Coastal Pet Rescue to help animals being surrendered during the pandemic.

NuFace

From now until the end of March, NuFace, known for its microcurrent skincare products, will donate five percent of the retail price of each of its items to No Kid Hungry.

Amika

Amika recently set up an affiliate program to help hairstylists who are unable to work at this time. Stylists can register on the site and receive 20 percent commission on the products their clients order.

Sundays

Customers at nail salon Sundays can buy gift cards from the studio at 20 percent off using the code Sundays20 or 25 percent off polishes using code Spring25. One-hundred percent of all gift card sales, in addition to any money raised via the brand's GoFundMe page, will be donated to salon workers.

Volto Urbano

Volto Urbano is donating 50 percent of its earnings to No Kid Hungry, Meals on Wheels and God's Love We Deliver.

Sara Happ

Sara Happ is currently running a flash sale and donating 100 percent of the earnings to LA school districts.

Glow Recipe

Glow Recipe is donating beauty self-care packages to medical staff working during the pandemic.

Avon

Avon partnered with Feed the Children and sent the organization $2 million worth of personal hygiene products in March.

Farmacy

Popular clean skincare brand Farmacy announced on March 17 that, for the next 30 days, it would be donating 10,000 meals a day to Feeding America, the nation's largest hunger relief organization. The brand has also set up a donation page encouraging its customers to donate to Feeding America's COVID-19 Rescue Fund in which it plans on matching each contribution.

Pacific Shaving Co.

From now until the end of March, Pacific Shaving Co. is donating 100 percent of its earnings from the online sales of its shaving products to the CDC Foundation.

Thrive Causemetics

On March 27, Thrive Causemetics held a donation day to raise money to support the relief efforts of Meals on Wheels, Baby2Baby and Feeding America. More than $350K was raised to support COVID-19 relief efforts. In addition to that, the brand expanded its support by committing to donating $1 million in funds and products to those most affected by the global pandemic.

Bumble and Bumble

Bumble and Bumble recently reopened its manufacturing facility to begin producing hand sanitizer for front-line medical staff and other community members.

Augustinus Bader

Augustinus Bader is donating 12,000 bottles of The Rich Cream to hospitals for doctors and nurses to fight against skin irritation and bruises from masks and glasses.

R+Co

Following the news of salon closures around the country, R+Co launched a home-delivery program for salons to be able to deliver their products to clients. According to a release, R+Co salons will earn a 40 percent commission on the products sold through links that are unique to each location.

Boscia

In addition to allowing customers to send a skin-care package from the brand to local community heroes, Boscia is donating over 1,000 units of cleansers and moisturizers to those working in the healthcare industry across the US.

Tan-Luxe

Tan-Luxe created a hydrating, antibacterial hand sanitizer called Hand-Luxe to give to those fighting the coronavirus on the frontlines. All 10,000 products produced will be donated.

Tata Harper Skincare

Tata Harper Skincare is donating 500 bottles of Tata Harper hand sanitizer and Reparative and Rebuilding Moisturizer to medical workers fighting COVID-19 in Los Angeles and New York City.

Murad Skincare

From March 31 to April 6, 15 percent of all sales from Murad will be donated to No Kid Hungry to help children affected by school closures.

Essence

Essence recently teamed up with Catrice Cosmetics to donate half a million euros to Doctors Without Borders. Additionally, the brands started their "keep a #kisstance" campaign, in which they will donate 5 euros for every post or story shared by a user "keeping their #kisstance with a digital kiss."

CHI

CHI recently created an FDA-approved hand sanitizer that was launched on March 26. Shortly after, $1 million worth of the product was donated to the cities of Houston and Tomball, TX.

Strivectin

Strivectin announced that it will be donating 2,000 hand creams to healthcare workers throughout the US.

HatchBeauty Brands

HatchBeauty Brands is donating its NatureWell clinical moisturizing creams to healthcare workers in Los Angeles and North Carolina. In addition, the brand will donate $1 to the purchase of important medical supplies for hospitals for every purchase on NatureWellBeauty.com.

Orly

Orly recently announced that it'd be reconfiguring its Los Angeles-based factory operations to produce 75 percent alcohol-based hand sanitizer, which will be donated to the City of Los Angeles and at-risk homeless civilians.

Wander Beauty

Wander Beauty is showing appreciation to healthcare workers by donating a Good To Go Mini Hair Essentials Kit — featuring its deluxe-size All Inclusive Shampoo and Body Wash and Scenic Route Hair Treatment — for every purchase of a full-size skin-care, hair, or body product from April 1-3.

Codex Beauty

Codex is providing healthcare workers with a total of 40,000 of its deluxe travel-size Bia Skin Superfood face creams.

MONAT

To address the shortages of hand-sanitizer, MONAT is shifting production at its US-based hair-care and skin-care manufacturing facility. The company will give away 240,000 two-ounce bottles of hand-sanitizer to government entities, non-profit organizations and customers across North America.

Milani Cosmetics

For the next four weeks, every customer that makes a purchase on MilaniCosmetics.com will receive a credit in the value of 10 percent of their order total to be used on Givz to donate to Meals on Wheels America, CDC Foundation, or No Kid Hungry.

Woo

Celebrity tattoo artist Dr. Woo recently developed a fragrance-free, water-activated soap bar through his latest venture, Woo. Each bar of soap will be sold at different price points, and 100 percent of the proceeds will go to Baby2Baby, which provides children 12 and under living in poverty with diapers, baby wipes, clothing, and other necessities.

Soapbox

Soapbox donated over 2 million bottles of hand sanitizer to grocery and drugstores around the country, while also donating over 2 million bars of soap to homeless shelters and food pantries across the US with help from Feeding America.

Each & Every

The natural deodorant brand is working with Good360 to donate $6,000 worth of deodorant to nonprofits supporting families and individuals impacted by job loss. The donation will help over 1,000 families.

Bond No. 9

Bond No. 9 recently partnered with Mount Sinai Health System to which it will donate 20 percent of its e-commerce sales all through April. Additionally, the brand will help provide nurses and other hospital staff with childcare.

True Botanicals

On April 20, True Botanicals is launching a clean, french lavender-scented hand sanitizer that will be added as a gift to customers ordering products online while supplies last. Additionally, 3,000 units will be donated to Baby2Baby and first responders and healthcare workers on the frontlines.

BoxyCharm

BoxyCharm will donate 100,000 of its subscription boxes to nurses working in New York and Florida, two states hit the hardest by COVID-19.

Nivea

Nivea and its parent company, Beiersdorf, recently donated 200,000 Eucerin, Nivea, and Aquaphor skincare products and 500,000 medical-grade sanitizers to hospital workers around the country. The brand also donated "supplies, funds and resources where they are needed most around the world," according a recent post on social media.

IPSY

On March 31, IPSY began sending care packages to 50,000 healthcare workers across the country. The brand also partnered with the American Nurses Foundation to match every dollar donation that customers contributed to its Coronavirus Response Fund, up to $50,000.

Milk Makeup

On Friday, April 10, Milk Makeup, in collaboration with the Wu-Tang Clan, donated 100 percent of proceeds for 24 hours on MilkMakeup.com to the NYC COVID-19 Emergency Relief Fund. The grand total was $106k. The brand has also donated $250k of product to frontline responders in NYC.

Scünci

Scünci has produced its own button hairbands that were specifically designed for healthcare workers to wear with face masks while keeping their hair back.

It's A 10 Haircare

It's A 10 Haircare has donated over $5.4 million worth of products to various nonprofits including Good360, who they partnered with to distribute over 200,000 hair and body products to families and individuals in need.

The Right to Shower

The Right to Shower has donated nearly 20,000 soap bars and body washes and 7,000 other essential items to organizations serving unhoused people in the US. The brand is also continuing to fund mobile showers and hand washing stations so that vulnerable communities can better protect themselves against COVID-19.

EM Cosmetics

15 percent of the profits made from sales on EM Cosmetics' new Flexibrow Clear Brow Gel and all other brow items at EMCosmetics.com will go to benefit Feeding America.

eos

Eos donated 100K of its Shea Better Hand Creams to frontline hospital and healthcare workers fighting COVID-19 in New York City. Additionally, the brand has plans to donate 50,000 more products to healthcare workers and hospitals around the country in the next few months.

COOLA

COOLA is giving back to their local community of San Diego by donating 10,000 meals a week for the next ten weeks to the North County Food Bank.

Sun Bum

Sun Bum is providing gift cards to independent surf shops to give to their staff for groceries or whatever else why may need and is encouraging customers to purchase their products from local shops instead of their website directly.
Additionally, the brand has donated thousands of hand sanitizers, moisturizers, and personal care products to first responders, hospitals, and those that are on the frontlines.

Goodhabit

Goodhabit, a new skin-care brand with a mission to protect consumers against blue light, is donating 20 percent of the proceeds from its pre-sale from April 15 to May 6 to Food Bank NYC.

Glossier

Throughout March and April, Glossier has donated balms, facial mists, and moisturizers to healthcare workers on the front lines of COVID-19. Additionally on April 23, the brand will be launching its own a Glossier Hand Cream, the first 10,000 of which have already been donated to healthcare professionals around the country.

Oars + Alps

Oars + Alps has partnered with hospitals in Chicago and New York to provide hand sanitizers to first responders. The brand has also launched its own Antibacterial Hand Sanitizer Spray and Antibacterial Hand Sanitizer Gel, which is now available to purchase on its website as a set of two for $16.

Jouer Cosmetics

Jouer Cosmetics has donated over 25,000 supplies — including masks, ponchos, and hand sanitizers — to Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles. The brand has also manufactured its own hand sanitizer that's now available for purchase while supplies last.

Biossance

On April 16, Biossance donated 100 percent of its online proceeds to Direct Relief to use for medical gear like protective masks, gowns, and gloves.

Bare Republic

Bare Republic partnered with Coola to donate 100K meals to the North County Food Bank in San Diego and introduced a quick-drying hand sanitizer which it contributed 10K units of to local hospitals, police departments, and senior living facilities.

The Body Shop

Global body-care brand The Body Shop, which closed its stores March 16, has partnered with local shelters and senior communities to donate 30,000 units of our cleansing products including hand wash and soap throughout the U.S. and Canada.

PCA Skin

Until the end of April, PCA Skin will be donating 100 percent of its proceeds from daily mask sales online to the Arizona Apparel Foundation, a non-profit organization created to provide up-and-coming designers and fashion brands with the resources to create sustainable fashion.

The Ordinary

The Ordinary recently began producing hand sanitizer to provide to frontline healthcare workers.

Primally Pure

Non-toxic skin-care brand Primally Pure launched its Hand Sanitizer ($12) amid the pandemic, and is donating 100 percent of proceeds through April to the the non-profit organizations Feeding America and Center for Disaster Philanthropy.

Zoya

In partnership with the state of Ohio, Zoya has temporarily stopped regular production to develop its own hand sanitizer for first responders and consumers. So far, the brand has supplied over 200 businesses, several police and emergency dispatch departments, nurses groups, and nursing homes with its product.

Function of Beauty

Function of Beauty is shifting gears to manufacture hand sanitizer to support the fight against the COVID-19. The brand will be donating 50K units to healthcare providers, emergency first responders, and community members with the highest need, with no plans to sell the product.

SIIA Cosmetics

Earlier this month, SIIA hosted a giveaway for nurses, doctors, healthcare workers, and first responders and donated more than $5,000 of its BOSS FACE Foaming Cleanser and lipsticks to hospital workers in the Dallas-Fort Worth, TX area.

Josie Maran Cosmetics

Josie Maran Cosmetics has donated 40K units of its Whipped Argan Oil Body Butter to first responders and healthcare workers nationwide fighting COVID-19.

Motorola Razr

Motorola Razr partnered with celebrity makeup artist Sir John for its #flipyourlook campaign which aims to inspire people to get dressed up for a good cause. For every photo posted of a bright and colorful makeup look, Razr is donating $50 to Support Creatives, an organization that helps hairstylists and makeup artists out of work due to COVID-19.

Heyday

Heyday is holding virtual skin consultations for essential workers fighting the pandemic. Many of whom are experiencing skin irritation from wearing masks for long periods of time at work. Each session is 15-minutes long and gives healthcare workers the opportunity to talk with someone, as well as ask skin-care advice.

Tatcha

On April 28, Tatcha announced that it will donate one million masks to New York City front-liners to help with the critical PPE shortage.

Bliss

Bliss has partnered with The Trevor Project, an LGBTQ suicide prevention and crisis intervention organization, to launch a donor match campaign that will see Bliss doubling all donations up to $50,000 in support of TTP's suicide and mental health resources for LGBTQ youth. There will also be an accompanying telethon on Instagram Live on May 1 hosted by Phillip Picardi and Manny MUA.

Garnier

On May 5, Garnier announced that it will produce 2 million units of hand sanitizer and deliver it free of charge to frontline retail employees in the areas most affected by COVID-19. The company will begin distributing the products in May.

Mane Club

Mane Club has pledge to donate 10 percent of its online sales to Feeding America. Additionally, the hair care brand will also donate $1 to A Million Masks for every hair mask sold on its website.

Sephora

Sephora launched its "Project Care" program in which it donated select beauty products to over 65,000 frontline healthcare workers and those dealing with domestic violence at home. Employees working in the brand's stores, distribution centers, and corporate offices across the US have nominated 500 individuals on the frontline to receive the packages, while Sephora will donate 15,000 Play! beauty boxes to 150 women's shelters across the country.

Additionally, Sephora is designing face masks that will retail for $10 each, and 50 percent of the proceeds from each mask sold will be donated to the Stronger Together Fund through Tides. All masks will be available in-store beginning June 1, and each Sephora employee will receive two of them for safety purposes.

Algenist

In honor of National Nurse Week and National Nurse Day on May 6, Algenist is donating 2,500 units of GENIUS Collagen Calming Relief to help healthcare workers suffering from skin irritation due to wearing a mask.

eSalon

eSalon is giving back by donating a year of free hair color to healthcare workers. Every week in May, the brand will select ten winners by tagging them on eSalon's Instagram post.

Anisa Beauty

Anisa International donated 5,000 medical masks to Atlanta, Georgia hospitals where ANISA Beauty is headquartered to help alleviate supply shortages.

Kinkō

Kinkō created a hand purifier and has donated 10K bottles to Texas hospitals, medical facilities, and homeless shelters, as well as small businesses in need.

Jergens

This Mother's Day, Jergens is launching a social campaign to give back to moms and children affected by COVID-19. MOMentos will run on Facebook and Instagram until May 10, allowing participants to post a story about their mom and tag @jergensus and #JergensMotherDay. For each post, the brand will be donating to Baby2Baby — a nonprofit that's providing basic essentials to some of the most vulnerable families across the country — and the Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center.

MyKirei by KAO

MyKirei by KAO recently launched a hand wash during COVID-19 and is giving back to its followers on Instagram @mykirei. It transformed traditional gift wrap cloth, originally created for marketing purposes, into non-surgical masks and is giving 500 away, along with the hand soap.

Sanzi-Derm

The new hand sanitizer brand Sanzi-Derm launched in May with a mission to give back to frontline workers and support the fight against COVID-19. Within weeks of its launch date, the brand made an initial donation of 60,000 bottles of hand sanitizers to local hospitals, nursing homes, and first responders in New York and New Jersey.
