Emma Watson Wants to Know What Her Tits Have to Do With Being a Feminist

Emma Watson recently debuted her March Vanity Fair cover, and as always, she looks absolutely stunning. In addition to wearing an off-the-shoulder white gown on the cover, a photo from the inside spread features the Beauty and the Beast actress posing topless except for a see-through bolero jacket (which you can see above). Typical fashion magazine stuff, nothing to see here, right? Wrong. The image quickly drew the attention of tabloids ā€” like The Sun, which published an article titled "Beauty and the Breasts" ā€” as well as radio host Julia Hartley-Brewer, who apparently could not handle the idea of a 26-year-old woman making a decision about her own body, tweeting, "Emma Watson: 'Feminism, feminism... gender wage gap... why oh why am I not taken seriously... feminism... oh, and here are my tits!'"

The outspoken feminist activist was quick to point out that all of the critiques of her topless photo only served to further prove her point about feminism. "It just always reveals to me how many misconceptions and what a misunderstanding there is about what feminism is," she told Reuters while doing press for Beauty and the Beast. "Feminism is about giving women choice, feminism is not a stick with which to beat other women with, it's about freedom, it's about liberation, it's about equality," she said. "I don't really know what my tits have to do with it." Emma further explained that she was "so thrilled" about the "incredibly artistic" photo shoot. Luckily plenty of other Twitter users were ready to back her up:

the only true way to champion feminism is to abandon your physical body and become a interdimensional gaseous being https://t.co/qMgfK5I4mG

. @EmmaWatson 's VF cover is not anti-feminist. Fem theory 101: feminism šŸ‘ means šŸ‘ free šŸ‘ choice šŸ‘ Let her empower herself however she wants

The Independent strips Emma Watson of agency, claims that as a women, she is unable to make smart choices and is too dim to understand that. pic.twitter.com/Q9mGl86KZz

Showing your body doesn't contradict feminism. What DOES contradict feminism is going out of your way to attack other women on the internet. https://t.co/mqKUn4ZfEF
