AC/DC Drummer Phil Rudd's Murder Plot Charges Dropped

On Thursday, AC/DC drummer Phil Rudd was accused of hiring a hit man to kill two men in Matua, New Zealand. The 60-year-old musician was arrested and charged with attempting to procure a murder as well as possession of methamphetamine and marijuana after police raided his home at 7 a.m. on Thursday. He was released on bail after he was charged and was told he may not contact anyone involved in the alleged murder plot. However, on Friday, his charge of murder-for-hire was dropped due to "insufficient evidence." Phil's other charges still stand. The identities of the people he reportedly tried to have murdered have not been revealed.

Phil was a member of AC/DC's original lineup but was kicked out of the group in 1983 after he got into a physical altercation with guitarist Malcolm Young. He rejoined the group in 1994 and has remained with them ever since, including recording their new album, Rock or Bust. However, Phil was noticeably absent from a recent promotional photo shoot for the new album. Back in September, the band announced that Malcolm has dementia and would not be returning to the group.
