Bindi Irwin Posts a Sweet Tribute For Her Late Father's 57th Birthday: "My Guiding Light"

On Friday, wildlife expert, TV star, and Australia Zoo founder Steve Irwin would have turned 57 years old. In honor of "The Crocodile Hunter," his 20-year-old daughter, Bindi, paid tribute to her late father with an Instagram post. She posted an old photo of Steve holding her as a baby alongside a koala bear. "Thank you for always being my guiding light," Bindi captioned the post.

Steve's 15-year-old son, Robert, also shared a special dedication by tweeting about a custom Google graphic of his dad. "Thank you so much, @Google for honouring dad with his own #GoogleDoodle all over the world," he wrote. "A perfect way to celebrate his birthday, sharing everything he did to make the world a better place." Terri — Steve's 54-year-old widow, whom he married in June 1992 — also posted a message on Twitter, saying, "Many thanks to @Google for commemorating Steve's life so beautifully on this special day."

Sadly, Steve passed away in 2006 after suffering stab wounds from a stingray. Back in April, he was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in Los Angeles. Then in December, Bindi opened up about maintaining her father's legacy through the family's conservation nonprofit Wildlife Warriors and new show Crikey! It's the Irwins. "I sure hope dad would be proud," she told People. "We really do try every day to make him proud and follow in his footsteps. I hope that somewhere he's out there going, 'Yes! You did good!'"
