LeBron James Gives Update on Son Bronny After Health Scare: "Doing Great"

LeBron James is thanking fans for their support after his son LeBron "Bronny" James Jr. reportedly suffered cardiac arrest on July 24, per TMZ. According to the outlet, Bronny has been doing well following the incident, and sources added that the 18-year-old's parents, LeBron and Savannah James, have been feeling "relieved" and "optimistic" about their son's situation despite not knowing what caused his heart to stop. Reps for LeBron did not immediately respond to POPSUGAR's request for comment.

"I want to thank the countless people sending my family love and prayers. We feel you and I'm so grateful," LeBron wrote on Twitter on July 27. "Everyone doing great. We have our family together, safe and healthy, and we feel your love. Will have more to say when we're ready but I wanted to tell everyone how much your support has meant to all of us! #JamesGang👑".

Bronny, a four-star recruit who announced his commitment to USC's basketball team in May, experienced the health scare around 9 a.m. at USC's Galen Center while he was practicing, TMZ first reported on July 25.

"Medical staff was able to treat Bronny and take him to the hospital," a James family rep shared in a statement to the outlet. "He is now in stable condition and no longer in ICU. We ask for respect and privacy for the James family and we will update media when there is more information." The rep continued, "LeBron and Savannah wish to publicly send their deepest thanks and appreciation to the USC medical and athletic staff for their incredible work and dedication to the safety of their athletes."

On July 12, just over a week before the incident, Bronny attended the ESPY Awards in Los Angeles to present his father with an award for breaking the NBA's all-time scoring record.
