Meghan Markle Impresses Students in Morocco With Her French: "Better Than Her Husband!"

We love a multilingual duchess! On Sunday, Meghan Markle showed off a bit of her linguistic skills while visiting students at a secondary school with Prince Harry as a part of their three-day Moroccan tour. During the trip, Meghan spoke with many of the schoolchildren, including two girls who were living in a dormitory built by the organization Education For All. They chatted about their future career goals, and one revealed she wants to be an astronaut. "Wow, that's impressive!" Meghan responded. She then turned to the other young student, and asked in French, "Et toi? Qu'est ce que tu veux être?" — which translates to "And you? What do you want to be?" The student replied that she plans on becoming a teacher. "Wow, that's wonderful," Meghan said, returning to English.

According to royal correspondent Rebecca English, Meghan apologized for her "high school French" while talking to some of the students and teachers. But she seemed to have impressed everyone with her language abilities. "She was better than her husband!," one girl remarked. And Harry certainly agreed, sharing that he didn't speak the language "at all." But Meghan has been working more on her French over the past year. Hopefully, she'll become as fluent in it as she is in Spanish.

Meghan and Harry — who are expecting their first child in the Spring — connected well with many of the children and young adults that they met on the tour. The Duchess of Sussex accepted a bouquet of flowers from a 16-year-old named Hasnaa and received a henna flower tattoo from 17-year-old Samira — a Moroccan tradition for women who are pregnant. They've shared plenty of other heartwarming moments with young fans before, so it's no surprise that the soon-to-be parents had such a bond with the tots and teens of Morocco.
