"Barbie" centers on the iconic toy that has since become a cultural phenomenon around the world and beloved across multiple generations and transformations. It's obvious that Robbie is front and center as Barbie, but the film is filled with several notable characters that are real-life variations of the doll, including Ken.

Barbie Millicent Roberts was first introduced in 1959. The doll resembled glamour icons of the time, like Marilyn Monroe and Elizabeth Taylor, but by the 1960s, she mirrored the various colors, styles, and fashion of the era. Throughout the years, Barbie has undergone many transformations and sparked several doll varieties, ranging from Nascar Barbie to Holiday Barbie. Today, the Barbie brand can be recognized in any store with dozens of new dolls to purchase on a regular basis.

Doctor Barbie has evolved over the years and has since included a variant with babies for Doctor Barbie ($14, originally $23) to tend to, but it hasn't strayed too far from the original teal outfit.
