The Crazy Rich Asians Movie Has the Star-Studded Cast of Your Dreams

The Fresh Off the Boat actress brings equal parts charm and independence to Rachel. The down-to-earth economics professor at NYU gets thrown into the glitzy world of her boyfriend's family when she agrees to go to the wedding of his best friend, Colin, halfway across the globe. Unfortunately it turns out not everyone is pleased to see Nick taken off the market, especially his mother.

Hot, smart, thoughtful, well-meaning, and super, super rich, Nick is one of the book's most endearing characters. To ensure the film found the perfect actor to play the part, director Jon M. Chu began a worldwide search, which resulted in the casting of Hollywood newbie Henry Golding (up until now, he's only done some TV-hosting gigs in Singapore) (oh, and he's also beautiful). Will Nick and Rachel's relationship survive when every woman in Singapore tries to break them up?

Humans star Gemma Chan steps into the impeccably stylish high heels of Nick's cousin, Astrid Teo. Gorgeous, smart, and more fashionable than every issue of Vogue put together, "the Goddess" seems to have it all, but she faces a near-insurmountable rough patch when she suspects her husband of cheating on her.

Community actor Ken Jeong has a small, but memorable role as the ostentatious father of Rachel's best friend, Peik Lin Goh.

You might know comedian and rapper Awkwafina best for her roles in Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising and Ocean's 8, but her next big part is as Rachel's generous and hilarious BFF. When Rachel lands in Singapore and struggles to fit into her surroundings, Peik Lin is more than happy to step in and help her out with plenty of funny one-liners.

It's safe to say Eleanor Young's personality is just as cutting as the blade Michelle Yeoh wields in Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon (remember what we said about perfect casting?!). Eleanor is Nick's overbearing, controlling mother, who doesn't think Rachel is even close to being good enough for her beloved son. Convinced Rachel is hiding something, Eleanor begins investigating her past and opens a can of worms that changes all of their lives forever.

Colin Khoo's epic wedding is basically the impetus for everything in Crazy Rich Asians. Colin is sweet, loyal, and best friends with Nick (and he's also one of Astrid's cousins), and his big bash is the most talked-about event in all of Asia thanks to his choice in bride: famous heiress and fashion icon Araminta Lee. He'll be portrayed by Chris Pang, who's recently appeared in Netflix's Marco Polo and Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: Sword of Destiny.

Ex-Machina's Sonoya Mizuno is on board as Araminta Lee, Colin's fiancée and gazillionaire fashionista. She immediately takes to Rachel, warmly welcoming her to Singapore and even inviting her to her wild bachelorette party.

Glee's Harry Shum Jr. will play Charlie Wu, Astrid's tech billionaire ex-fiancé who just might have a few lingering feelings for her, even though he's married to someone else. Pro-tip: stick around for the postcredits scene if you want a glimpse of him!

The Silicon Valley alum adds a hefty dose of debauchery to all the affluence porn in the luxurious film as Bernard Tai, a party-loving pal of Nick and Colin's.

Singapore star Pierre Png brings his washboard abs to the role of Michael Teo, Astrid's hot-and-cold husband.

Oliver T'sien, Nick's delightfully gossipy cousin, works for Christie's in London and therefore has impeccable taste . . . and a biting sense of humor that is the perfect foil to Rachel's stress. Nico Santos (Superstore, The Clapper) embodies Oliver's spirit perfectly.

The Daily Show's Ronny Chieng plays Eddie, one of Nick's cousins and a huge jerk, to put it lightly.

Remy Hii, who costarred in Marco Polo with Chris Pang, joins the movie as Alistair Cheng. He's a wealthy wild child who works in Hong Kong's movie industry and begins dating a desperate-for-fame soap opera actress, much to his parents' dismay.
