Here's Everything We Know About the To All the Boys I've Loved Before Sequel

Unless you've managed to avoid the internet over the last few months, you probably heard about a sweet, not-so-little romantic comedy called To All the Boys I've Loved Before. Adapted from Jenny Han's novel of the same name, the movie rapidly developed a massive fan base, becoming one of Netflix's most-viewed movies of all time. Knowing that Han had written two more books detailing Lara Jean's romantic misadventures, fans immediately clamored for a sequel. While it hasn't been made 100 percent official yet, Netflix seems to be very close to confirming a sequel, presumably based on Han's follow-up novel, P.S. I Still Love You.

Before you rewatch the movie a second (or millionth) time or find another rom-com to fill your heart, here are all the details that you should know about the upcoming sequel.

The plot will likely pick up right where we left off.

Netflix's To All the Boys I've Loved Before features part of the plot of Jenny Han's second book, P.S. I Still Love You. In the books, the video leak of Lara Jean and Peter kissing in the hot tub and John Ambrose McClaren's return don't happen until the second novel, which picks up right after the first. But there's still plot to explore in the upcoming movie.

In P.S. I Still Love You, John Ambrose and Lara Jean get in touch again as pen pals after he receives her letter, but he comes back into our beloved protagonist's life in a different way than in the first movie, where he makes just a quick appearance. As the two start getting closer, so do Peter and his ex Gen, so there's definitely trouble in teen paradise.

It's hard to imagine the sequel without Lana Condor and Noah Centineo, although neither of them have actually confirmed returning. Condor previously expressed interest in making a second movie and said that it was very likely that a sequel was going to happen. In early November, the actress mentioned that both she and Centineo had busy schedules, telling Entertainment Tonight, "[T]hey better hop on it pretty soon because Noah and I ‚ I'm on the show [Deadly Class]. I'm doing a movie in Romania. He's doing Charlie's Angels. He's doing another movie that he just booked. It comes down to availability, and I hope they lock us in soon."

As for the other cast, we'll likely see more of the Song sisters, Margot (Janel Parrish) and Kitty (Anna Cathcart), as they advise Lara Jean. In the book, Dr. Covey gets a love interest, so John Corbett is also likely a returning player. Josh has a smaller role in the later books, but we wouldn't be surprised if the filmmakers find a way to squeeze in Israel Broussard.

We don't have information on the director yet, but Susan Johnson could return.

We don't have information on the director yet, but Susan Johnson could return.

At the end of November, To All the Boys I've Loved Before director Susan Johnson seemed to confirm the movie's sequel on a now-deleted Instagram post, writing, "Well, the cat's out of the bag! Thanks for the support, everyone!!! It's all you!" At that point, Netflix clarified to various news outlets that a sequel had not been officially confirmed and was still in talks. Johnson wrote in another post that she was just sharing what she read online as opposed to confirming the sequel. She later thanked fans on Instagram for sending her the official Deadline article about the sequel. While we await confirmation, it definitely sounds like Johnson is interested in continuing with the series.
