Netflix's New True Crime Series Chronicles the Grisly, Chilling Trial of Ted Bundy

It's no secret Netflix has gone all the way in on the true-crime trend; with big shows on its roster like the gripping Making a Murderer, the unsettling mystery of The Keepers, and even the new docuseries The Innocent Man, the streaming platform is practically running the gamut on our culture's strange, murderous obsession. And there's no sign of slowing down; its latest impending release, a docuseries about the crimes and trial of Ted Bundy, will drop at the end of the month. The Official Trailer

In mid-January, Netflix dropped a gripping trailer for the project that really captures the madness and hysteria surrounding his crimes and trial.

The four-part miniseries will feature previously unreleased interviews Bundy gave while he was on death row in Florida. It will also rehash the horrifying specifics of Bundy's crimes — he's been linked to the murders of more than 30 women in the 1970s. The episodes will also focus on the complete media frenzy that accompanied his time on trial; he was the object of affection for quite a few women, including Carole Ann Boone, who testified on his behalf.

In the unheard interviews, which consist of more than 100 hours of recordings from aforementioned journalists Michaud and Aynesworth, Bundy analyzes his own life and motives, giving an appropriately chilling insight into the mind of a serial killer.

The Documentarian

The project will be directed and executive produced by Joe Berlinger, who's earned multiple Emmys and an Oscar nomination. Berlinger is actually a pretty prime choice for the task; he also directed Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile, which stars Zac Efron as Bundy and will premiere at Sundance in 2019.
