13 "You Need to Calm Down" Halloween Costumes That Will Make You Feel Like Taylor Swift

We can hopefully all agree that Taylor Swift's "You Need to Calm Down" music video is objectively a cinematic work of art that belongs in the Louvre on a loop (not to be dramatic). Thankfully, Halloween is right around the corner, or close enough, and with it comes the chance to be part of this magical saccharine fever dream.

Swift has gifted us three-and-a-half minutes of a hater-free world full of love, equality, and cake. Halloween is the perfect time to enter that world by putting on some glitter and dancing around in a rainbow trailer park as it goes up in flames. With caution, of course. And if these costumes are too good to pick just one (they are), fear not: the Lover Tour will be here before you know it (we hope).

Damn, It's 7 a.m.

Damn, It's 7 a.m.

Nothing says "can't be bothered" like hopping out of bed to toss cotton candy into a blender, satin robe around your shoulders and glittery hair in curlers. If anyone knows how to calm down, it's Taylor Swift. And you on Halloween, ideally.

What to wear: Eye mask, satin robe, cat watch, and curlers and glitter for your hair

Jumped Into the Pool From the Balcony

Jumped Into the Pool From the Balcony

If sipping a cocktail fully clothed in a swimming pool isn't a power move, I don't know what is. This look also works if you opt for shorts and a bodysuit or crop top for something with a little more coverage (or weather appropriate — it's October, after all).

What to wear: Sunglasses, heart-shaped earrings, and a swimsuit under an obnoxiously pink faux-fur coat

Queen of the Allies

Queen of the Allies

Swift dying her hair the colors of the bisexual flag was perhaps the most glorious moment of the video, if not in human history. A wig or colored powder might be a good idea if you have work the next day, but regardless of the method or color combination, all hair flags are equally magnificent.

What to wear: Blue cropped bomber jacket, yellow shorts, unicorn boots, and hair dye or a wig

Taydrick

Todrick Hall's quintessentially vibrant and sparkle-covered looks never disappoint, and definitely did not in this video. Anyone can rock this outfit — trust me.

What to wear: Yellow tank top or bodysuit, denim shorts, sparkly heels, sheer heart-print robe

Don’t Step on Her Gown

Don’t Step on Her Gown

All hail Laverne Cox, reigning queen of glitter and magic. Can you just NOT step on her gown, sparkly pink or otherwise? This is an easy costume to put together, plus it's an excuse to wear a gown for absolutely no reason. Win win.

What to wear: Pink sparkly gown and a watering can for good measure

King of Pink

King of Pink

In this outfit, Chester Lockhart fits into this happy world of color like a glove. Best of all, this look doesn't have to be Halloween-specific. Be a pastel prince or princess all year long.

What to wear: Sheer pink top, pastel pink pants, pink hair (dye or powder)

The Archer

The Archer

Taylor Swift has a knack for dropping hints before releasing new music, just as she did when Hayley Kiyoko shot an arrow at a bulls-eye of the number five. Little did we know this was a thinly veiled nod to "The Archer," track five on Lover. Whether your costume is interpreted as a shimmery archer or a pageant queen learning to hunt, you'll look fantastic no matter what.

What to wear: Sequin jacket, glittery skirt and top, and a bow and arrow

You May Now Kiss the Groom

These costumes are easy to put together and work perfectly for a group of three people. To re-create Jesse Tyler Ferguson and Justin Mikita's adorable wedding ceremony performed by Ciara (or the gods?), all you need is two people wearing blue suits and one wearing any orange outfit under some sort of majestic gold floor-length robe. Boom! Costume!

What to wear: Two people in blue suits, one person in orange jeans and top with a gold robe

Jonathan Van Ness Meets Cleopatra

Jonathan Van Ness Meets Cleopatra

The more sequins and glitter you add to any outfit, or in this case Halloween costume, the closer you come to resembling Jonathan Van Ness in this video. His cameo is short, but his look is incomparable and absolutely worth replicating.

What to wear: Sequin jacket or robe with a rhinestone headpiece

Cruel Summer

Cruel Summer

Ellen DeGeneres's cameo was probably the least colorful thing on set, but the all-white outfit really lets the Cruel Summer tattoo shine. It's probably best to go with a temporary tattoo, but if you're really that dedicated to the costume, who am I to stop you?

What to wear: White shirt, white pants, and a Cruel Summer forearm tattoo

Poolside Squad

Poolside Squad

If you can round up a group of Swiftie friends to dress up with you, all you need for this costume is a swimsuit and matching heart-shaped sunglasses to make a human rainbow of sunshine. We all remember the iconic heart-shaped sunglasses of "22" Taylor, but there's no hiding behind these shades. Look the haters in the eye and let them see your side glances and eye rolls. Shade never made anybody less gay, anyway.

What to wear: Heart shaped sunglasses, swimsuit, and a sunbathing reflector board for dramatic effect

All the Girls! Who Are Killing It!

The drag queens make for a two-in-one costume. You're dressed as a queen dressed as a celebrity — specifically Ariana Grande, Lady Gaga, Adele, Cardi B, Taylor Swift, Beyoncé, Katy Perry, and Nicki Minaj. This costume works best for groups of about eight people, but there are no rules when you show up here. Go wild.

What to wear: There's more leeway with these costumes. Don't worry about specifics, just try to capture the artist's look as best you can.

A Happy Meal

A Happy Meal

As a symbol of their newly mended friendship, Taylor Swift and Katy Perry dressed as a burger and fries to represent things that belong together. This costume is an easy and universally entertaining way to embody that adorably greasy sentiment.

What to wear: A hamburger suit or a french fries suit
