You Might Lose Your Mind When You See What the Game of Thrones "Shame Nun" Looks Like IRL

One of the funniest things about Game of Thrones (of which there are few) is seeing how drastically different the cast looks when they take off their elaborate costumes and step into the real world. After seeing what the terrifying Night's King looks like without all of that icy CGI (spoiler alert: a very normal dude), we didn't think it was possible to be shocked any further. Then, because there's nothing Game of Thrones loves more than exceeding our expectations, we discovered that Septa Unella's (aka the "Shame Nun") real-life counterpart is basically a goddess IRL, and our eyes opened so wide they fell out of their sockets and onto the floor.

Meet Actress Hannah Waddingham!

Is your jaw on the floor, or what?! Waddingham has had roles in films like Les Misérables and Into the Woods and most recently the BBC miniseries In the Club. In an interview with Yahoo last year, she described the way Septa Unella was originally supposed to look and how it takes confidence to go on TV without any makeup:

"I think they wanted a shorter, more heavyset older woman. In the character breakdown, she was described as a hulking brute of a woman, to which I thought, 'Well, they're clearly not going to pick me! I'm far too glamorous!' [Laughs] In all seriousness, it takes some getting used to to appear on international television without one scrap of makeup on. But once I got into her habit, it wouldn't have even crossed my mind to try and beautify her. She is who she is."

And One More Time, Just in Case You Forgot . . .

Yep. That's really her.
