Former Bachelorette Gets Brutally Honest About "Completely Different" Postpartum Life

I've got a crooked smile, tired eyes, postpartum hairs that stick straight up, a comfy Tee I picked up from Wal-mart and I couldn't feel more like myself. Being a mother and caring for someone who needs you more than anything or anyone else in the world makes priorities change in such a rewarding way - I might have (many) days of comfy clothes, second (or third) day hair with no makeup on and yet I feel more beautiful and comfortable in my own skin than ever before just being able to nurture my baby and care for my hubby.- (and play with my fur baby- can't forget about Frankie!) • There are seasons in life that bring about a sense of strength and security and for you that might look completely different.. a new career, a move, a relationship or friendship, even a new haircut. Whatever it is- embrace it and feel beautiful being you in each and every season of life because it is in these moments right now that can bear the most fruit in our lives and in others. 😘#randomramblings #nighttimereflections #goodnight #sleeptight #beyoutiful #yesyou xoxo

Desiree Hartsock may have found love on season nine of The Bachelorette, but since welcoming her first child with Chris Siegfried in October, she's learning to embrace this new role as a mother. Desiree recently took to Instagram to open up about how baby Asher has affected her life, in ways that she never could've imagined, and it's such an uplifting postpartum perspective.

"I've got a crooked smile, tired eyes, postpartum hairs that stick straight up, a comfy tee I picked up from Wal-mart and I couldn't feel more like myself," she captioned the photo above. "Being a mother and caring for someone who needs you more than anything or anyone else in the world makes priorities change in such a rewarding way."

Desiree explains that she doesn't care about her messy hair or her makeup-free look, because caring for her son has brought her more joy than anything else. . . and look at how she's glowing!

"I might have (many) days of comfy clothes, second- (or third-) day hair with no makeup on and yet I feel more beautiful and comfortable in my own skin than ever before just being able to nurture my baby and care for my hubby," she wrote.

Even if you're not a new mom and you're just experiencing a major life change, Desiree has some encouraging advice. "There are seasons in life that bring about a sense of strength and security and for you that might look completely different," she closed her note. "Whatever it is — embrace it and feel beautiful being you in each and every season of life because it is in these moments right now that can bear the most fruit in our lives and in others."
