Drew Barrymore Wants to Be "a Good, Present Parent"

Drew Barrymore's wild childhood is well-documented. From uninvolved and abusive Hollywood parents to drug-filled tween years, she's a true survivor. But now that she's a mom herself — Olive, 2, and Frankie, 10 months — Barrymore isn't looking at her past with rose-colored glasses. She's determined to provide a better childhood for her kids.

In the February issue of More magazine, on newsstands this week, Barrymore opens up on motherhood and what she hopes to do for her children.

"I didn't really have parents, you know? And therefore the kind of parent I will be is a good, present parent. In a way, maybe that was a detriment to my youth, but it'll be the biggest asset to my adulthood."
