The Simple Way Parents Can Score Free Kids’ Books While Grocery Shopping

From story time to bedtime reading, books are a huge part of childhood. Reading introduces children to a diverse set of characters and fantastic worlds, helping ignite their imaginations and broaden their understanding of the world.

Still, too many children think of reading as a chore or a boring skill they have to learn in school. Parents can help reposition reading and get their kids excited about those creative stories, fairy-tale settings, and lovable characters — but first they may need some help getting the books into their hands. That's why Sam's Club, Kellogg's®, and Penguin Random House are teaming up to support Feeding Reading, a campaign to distribute books to children across the country.

The literary fun came to life at a recent event at a Sam's Club in McKinney, Texas. Book characters and beloved mascots took over the store, handing out samples of Kellogg's® Rice Krispies Treats®, posing for photos with fans, and even holding a reading hour.

Parents could learn all about the Feeding Reading program while their kids met characters like Baby Llama from Llama Llama Red Pajama. Outside the store, kids could grab a book from the Feeding Reading lounge for a bit of reading — Tony the Tiger even got in on the fun!

Ready to share the book love? Here's how Feeding Reading works: Buy any participating Kellogg's® product at your local Sam's Club. Since the list includes kid faves like Kellogg's® Rice Krispies Treats®, Cheez-It® pouches, Eggo® Homestyle Waffles, and more, it should be pretty easy to find something your family likes.

Then, take a picture of your receipt and upload it here within 30 days of your purchase. Once your receipt is uploaded, you'll receive a credit to redeem a Penguin Random House kids' book. Parents have 125 titles to choose from, including classics like The Berenstain Bears series. Last but not least, Sam's Club will also donate a second book to a local school on your behalf, doubling your impact. Who's ready to go shopping?
