Internet Technician Calms Boy With Special Needs

This Boy With Special Needs Was Having a Bad Day Until an Internet Technician Changed Everything

As a mom to a son with special needs, Jessica Nash Donnahoo knows that some days are harder than others. In a Facebook post, she admitted that her patience was certainly being tested on the afternoon of March 16 between her son with special needs' tantrum, taking care of her daughter, and cleaning up the house. But thankfully, an internet technician named Robert stepped up when she needed it most. To show her gratitude, she wrote Spectrum Internet an open letter and shared it on social media. Now it's going utterly viral.

"Today your technician Robert came to our home to upgrade our internet and help us start up TV streaming," wrote Jessica. "He walked into a mess. My son, Sailor, is three years old. He was born with two rare brain defects and he is blind. He is unable to communicate his needs, and today has been rough for him. He has been crying all morning. I've been trying to soothe him while also meeting the needs of my 2-year-old daughter, cleaning, washing dishes, and doing laundry while my husband works. It's just been a tough day."

Although Jessica can't explain it, Sailor's demeanor completely changed once Robert entered their house. "When Robert walked in and started talking, Sailor ran to him and reached up," she wrote. "Robert didn't seem bothered at all and, instead, held my son off and on for the whole 45 minutes he was in our home. He snuggled him close while I folded laundry. It was a huge relief to this tired momma."

And Jessica was well aware that Robert wasn't required to take any extra time out of his day to tend to her son. He did it out of the kindness of his heart. "Robert could have walked in, rushed, and left but instead he saw a need greater than internet and met it. That's beyond customer service, it's humanity at its best. Robert deserves a raise — a promotion — something! He's an asset to your company and I will never forget his kindness."

Fingers crossed Robert gets that promotion! Sometimes we need a reminder that being nice can go a long way.
