Lupita Nyong'o Opens Up About a Mother's Fears in This Exclusive Queen of Katwe Clip
It has to be a pretty gripping story to make a film about a chess star compelling to audiences. Queen of Katwe, based on the life of Phiona Mutesi, a Ugandan girl who becomes a national chess champion, has all of the makings of doing just that. The Disney film, which comes out this weekend, stars Lupita Nyong'o, David Oyelowo, and the newly discovered Madina Nalwanga. In this exclusive clip, Nyong'o explains that the film is about more than just a chess champ. "Harriet, the mother of Phiona, comes from a place where to love is to fear for those you love. There's a tug-of-war between love and fear. She recognizes that that fear is what is holding her child back."
Watch the clip to see why Nyong'o believes the film will appeal to everyone.
