School Basketball Players Help Girl Being Bullied
You Need to See What These Middle School Athletes Did For a Girl With Down Syndrome
Middle school can be a tough time for any student, but when you are a girl with Down syndrome, it can be so much worse. Not so for Desiree Andrews, a cheerleader for the Lincoln Middle School basketball team in Wisconsin who also happens to have the disorder. At a recent game, some people in the stands were bullying Desiree when several players took notice.
"The kids in the audience were picking on Dee, so we all stepped forward," said Chase Vazquez, one of the school athletes. He and two other players walked off the court and confronted the bullies. The team has since renamed the gym "D's House" in her honor.
What does Desiree think of the gesture? "It is sweet, kind, awesome, amazing."
