UPS Pulled a Total Grinch Move on Twitter, and the Cindy Lous of the World Aren't Too Happy

It's possible that the UPS has been infiltrated by none other than everyone's favorite green Christmas villain: The Grinch. In a tweet sent out on Dec. 16 (which has since been deleted), the package delivery service noted to parents that it offers shredding . . . for kids' Santa letters.

"If your child addresses a letter to the North Pole, you can leave it with us," the tweet read. "We do shredding."

Now, hear us out — we know where this joke was coming from, and most kids who believe in Santa are probably not on Twitter, so we doubt the tweeter thought it'd be a huge risk to hit "send." Parents are stressed enough as it is around the holidays, and the years of keeping the magic of Santa alive can be dicey. So while it's a cute thing to save your kids' Santa letters for them to look back on when they're older, the risk of them being found and the magic being ruined very abruptly is just another anxiety-inducing element to tack on to this time of year — the UPS was probably just trying to be both cheeky and helpful (?) in offering shredding services (if you are saving your kids' letters, keep those babies locked up!).

But we also understand how this was a bit of a "yikes" moment, as the tweeter's humor doesn't exactly read as particularly light or warm, which would have helped more people to realize straight away that it was mostly a joke that just didn't translate. Either way, the tweet was clearly deemed an oversight and was deleted swiftly . . . but not before the Cindy Lous of the world were able to screen-grab it and tweet their reactions.
