This 3-Year-Old Lost His Legs, but Has Advanced More Than It Was Thought He Would in 10 Years

Just shy of his first birthday, Ryker, now 3, had to have both of his legs amputated. Born with split hand/foot malformation with long bone deficiency — a congenital limb anomaly that for Ryker means both his hands and feet were malformed — Ryker has progressed further and more quickly than it was thought he would in 10 years. To celebrate Ryker's differences and the struggles he's overcome, he posed for a photo shoot with photographer Ceasarae Galvan of Six Eight Productions, who really captured Ryker's inspiring essence.

"Ryker's spirit is so strong and he is just full of joy."

"Photographing Ryker was amazing," Ceasarae told POPSUGAR. "As a special needs mama myself, I know how hard it can be some days, but Ryker's spirit is so strong and he is just full of joy. I am so inspired by Ryker's progress. He has accomplished so much in his short life."

And even though every single photo Ceasarae took of Ryker is adorable, she shared that she is playing favorites, but for a great reason. "My absolute favorite image from Ryker's session is the one where he's laying on his back with his previous 'legs' laying all around him — he's got a huge grin as if he's saying, 'Yep, I overcame that.'"
