How to Dress Like Rosie Huntington-Whiteley

The 1 Unexpected Fall Statement Piece You Need to Dress Like Rosie Huntington-Whiteley

Achieving the model-off-duty look is easy with the right staples. We've partnered with PAIGE to bring you the standout piece you need to step up your street style game this season.

It's no secret that Rosie Huntington-Whiteley tops our list of the most stylish celebrities. From her flawless airport outfits to her swoon-worthy red carpet looks to her ongoing design collaboration with fashion-girl-favorite brand PAIGE, we've been guilty of posing the question "what would Rosie wear?" on numerous occasions in hopes of achieving her effortless vibe for ourselves. Luckily, we no longer need to leave this question up for speculation — we got the dirt straight from the model herself!

To help you nail her always-on-point style once and for all, we recently sat down with Rosie to learn more about her upcoming Fall collection with PAIGE and how she approaches putting together notable outfits for the season ahead. The main takeaway? It all boils down to one standout piece from the collection: the velvet Rosanna duster coat. Keep reading to get the dish on the stunning new creation from Rosie and Paige Adams-Geller, PAIGE's founder and creative director, and why it's a must have for Fall.

We often consider muted, minimal staples like clean denim or structured outerwear to be our wardrobe workhorses through Fall, but the velvet duster is all about maximal impact. Composed from rich velvet, this coat doesn't skimp on the design elements, featuring an ankle-grazing length, wide sleeves, vintage-inspired burnout patterns, crystal and brass bead embellishments, and star motifs. It's unlike anything PAIGE has released in the past, making it all the more special. "Rosie and I both have an appreciation for beautiful clothing and elevated pieces, and we had a lot of fun being a little bit more daring for this collection by embracing the nightlife, rock 'n' roll element of the brand," Paige said. "We played with more opulent fabrications and really rich textures and brought a more on-duty type of drama to the pieces. The velvet duster is my favorite piece in the collection, by far," she explained. "Being able to mix my favorite fabric with a long length and then embellishing it was the perfect trifecta. It's super luxe and sexy and feels so sensual, but then has that edgy, 'woman of the night' vibe."

Dotting the coat with stars was an easy design decision for both Paige and Rosie to add in a more personal element and take the brand's music embodiment one step further. "One of my favorite things when I was growing up in Alaska was to go out at nighttime and look at the constellations and think about being so small in the middle of a vast universe," Paige said. "When Rosie mentioned how much she loved the thought of falling stars and shooting stars, we thought it would be the perfect little bit of drama that we could add to the piece to give it that special, hand-done feel and make it even more glamorous and opulent. And I also think stars have a cool rock 'n' roll vibe — they remind me of the music scene in LA: Hollywood, the Sunset Strip, and all of that," she added.

You'd think that a piece this dramatic and statement-making would take some major outfit planning to pull off, but take it from Rosie herself — it's actually the perfect piece to effortlessly throw on before heading out the door. "Because I'm traveling, off to work early in the morning, in and out of meetings all day, and then hanging out with family and friends in my free time, it's really important for me to feel comfortable yet stylish, relaxed yet polished," Rosie noted. "The vibe of the duster, and all the pieces in the collection, is very much about being on the go whilst being stylish at the same time. It's got this glamorous feel, but it's still laid-back. It's a great piece for wearing out in the evening, and it's a great piece for the daytime, too — it can really be dressed up or dressed down."

To prove it, we asked Rosie for pointers on how to style out the coat for specific occasions. From tailored cuts to classic staples and solid neutrals, she suggests keeping it simple and sticking to the basics to really let the duster take center stage. Here's how she'd wear it:

For the office
"If it was a professional look, I'd style it with a pair of black flared trousers, a chic white shirt, and then I'd have the velvet duster on top."

For a night out
"I'd wear mine with a cool pair of leather pants, a great pair of strappy heels, and a little black silk camisole for an evening-inspired look."

For a casual weekend
"Definitely with a pair of blue jeans. I always think blue and black is such a great color combination, and we saw a lot of that on the runway this season. I love the idea of blue denim with black velvet, along with a white or black t-shirt."
