It’s easy to plan out a glam holiday look — party-ready metallics, colorful velvets, a bold lip. But when it comes to a gathering at your friend's place or an afterwork cocktail hour (you know, the casual get-togethers where the guys throw on their everyday jeans and finest red sweater for a little, emphasis on little, holiday spirit), showing up in a floor-length dress probably isn’t the right vibe. Unless you feel like it of course, which, power to you girl. It’s a struggle to find the ensemble that checks every box: comfortable, warm, affordable, and let’s be real, shows off some curves.
I scoped out Kohl’s New Gifts at Every Turn event, a pop-up shop in NYC, to see the much-talked-about designer collaborations with JW Jason Wu and Elizabeth and James, alongside some other favorites like LC Lauren Conrad, Simply Vera Vera Wang, and Scott Living. Each brand displayed their holiday collections inside interactive, mini shops. Window shopping my way through the event was like stepping into a Winter Wonderland — peppermint hot cocoa on tap, roasted chestnuts for snacking, and even live caroling. Inside every mini shop brands offered personalized gifts guaranteed to win over friends and family. Think complementary embroidery at Elizabeth and James, custom ornaments at the Scott Living Shop, along with activities for those much-needed shopping breaks: a holiday photo booth, a mocktail bar, and my favorite — mini bouquet-making inside the JW Jason Wu shop.
While working my way through the event, I stopped by The Outfit Bar, another immersive shop within the pop-up space. On display were curated outfits for easy dressing during the holidays, saving me from my casual party-look problem. I discovered name-brand labels at affordable price points: Nine West, Jennifer Lopez, LC Lauren Conrad, and our very own, POPSUGAR by Kohl’s. Plus, I saved extra bucks with my Kohl’s Cash, win!
After seeing this gorgeous Nine West sweater on display, I knew it would be the perfect addition to my Winter wardrobe. The puff sleeve silhouette makes a statement and adds a bit of drama to the cozy knit. Plus, its texture ensures that I'm comfortable enough to dance all night but won't succumb to the cold temps during the walk home.
To round off the base of the look, I paired the sweater with these Nine West flare-leg pants in the same color. As someone who's on the petite side — 5'3" to be exact — I tend toward monochromatic looks to elongate my legs. I also did a French tuck to define my waist and add an intentional style element.
As for accessories, this LC Lauren Conrad crossbody bag is not only a staple for the holiday season but works with my wardrobe, year-round. Bonus: it has enough space for you to take holiday treats to go (I’m not judging). I also opted for these Nine West knee-high boots to add a hint of glam. Hidden under my pants, they helped to add an extra layer of warmth.
I finished off the look with this cozy, soft jacket from Jennifer Lopez Collection. Throwing it on instantly elevated my monochromatic ensemble from snow-woman chic to a runway-ready getup. For everyday wear, try pairing it with a simple jeans and t-shirt, topped off with your go-to pair of cold-weather boots. I'll be wearing the soft jacket from the Jennifer Lopez collection all Winter long — consider me obsessed.
