Coach’s Spring Collection Is What Happens When the Rebel Girl Plays Dress-Up

Stuart Vevers is officially designing for the Coach girl all grown up. But she can't forget the pretty little elements of her past. Still, circling a car pileup in the middle of a junk yard, models embraced full-on grunge. It was as if they'd just rummaged through a trunk of vintage dresses, then headed out to play. That's where things got messy.

Chiffon printed dresses and slips were covered with studded leather coats up top (next season's sure must haves), but skirts were completely sheer and unladylike. Silky bandanas were tied around the neck, a dose of Western flair to complement cowboy jackets, but black chokers were strapped on underneath it all. A silver half-moon earring was an afterthought.

The rebel child walked with slow, heavy steps in her creeper shoes. They were surrounded with leather fringe at the ankles, and there was plenty more where that came from, swinging from the backs of military parkas and miniskirts. Finally, every girl will want to grab one of these floral-appliquéd bags before she heads out to dinner — or straight to the bar.
