Feast Your Eyes on Kate Middleton's Newest Jewels From 2016

We know the sapphire engagement ring and Kiki McDonough citrine drops better than the contents of our own jewelry box, but in 2016, Kate Middleton debuted a whole host of new gems. From the $7 bargain she picked up at a trinket stall to $5,000 worth of lavender amethysts, Kate has worked a variety of different looks and price points this year. We took a look at the new additions that include a possible gift from Prince William, a high street home run, gold from the queen of Bhutan, and mementos from overseas travels.

During her Spring tour of India and Bhutan alone, Kate showcased seven new pairs of earrings — with wildly varying price tags. First up were the Filigree Bead Short Drop Earrings from Accessorize for $11, which Kate wore for many of her engagements in India.

Next up were these heavy hitters, worn to a Bollywood gala. Kate accessorized her electric blue Jenny Packham gown with the lapis lazuli Amrapali earrings, which cost $3,500.

For lunch with the Indian prime minister, Kate wore a new pair of Kiki McDonough earrings made of green tourmalines, green amethysts, and diamonds, which cost $4,985. They were made specially for Kate and are said to have been a gift to celebrate the birth of Princess Charlotte. The most likely gift-giver would of course be Prince William.

Less-expensive baubles were debuted on Kate's arrival to Bhutan — the gold-plated Brora earrings cost $50. The duchess also wore them for a dinner later on the tour and to Wimbledon.

The most expensive jewelry of the year was teamed with Kate's most unusual look. The traditional Bhutanese clothing worked perfectly with her lavender amethyst Kiki McDonough earrings, which cost a whopping $5,538.

As the Cambridges left Bhutan for the last day of their tour, Kate was spotted wearing an intricate gold necklace that was a gift from the nation's Queen Jetsun.

For one of the most iconic pictures from the tour, Kate teamed a stunning Naeem Khan dress with a pair of $7 earrings at the Taj Mahal. The duchess had bought them from a trinket stall during her hike in Bhutan.

For a Service of Thanksgiving to commemorate the queen's 90th birthday, Kate paired earrings that she had worn before with a new cushion-cut aquamarine and diamond pendant.

Kate is known for her love of Kiki McDonough citrine earrings, but she showcased her latest beauties on a trip to Northern Ireland. The Eden Diamond Flower Drop Earrings are originally made from lemon quartz and sold for $3,606, but Kate's were customized with citrines.

For Kate's first day at Ascot, she teamed her white lace Dolce & Gabbana dress with pearl drops, set with an aquamarine and diamonds. They are believed to be from Robinson Pelham, who designed her wedding earrings.

To commemorate the Battle of the Somme, Kate wore faux pearl and crystal costume jewelry earrings from Balenciaga, costing $745.

These Soru Baroque pearl earrings edged with Swarovski crystals have swiftly become a favorite. Kate wore the $168 pair at Wimbledon and later in the year during her Canadian tour.

During her tour of Canada, Kate opted for a few jewelry choices with a local flavor. First up were the Large Kite Double Drop Earrings costing $1,105 from Canadian jeweler Pippa Small.

In Kelowna, Kate opted for $195 Monica Vinader Siren Drops made from green onyx and gold.

In the Yukon, Kate chose a pair of $74 bronze earrings that were inspired by the design of traditional Inuit knife the ulu and made by local jeweler Shelley MacDonald.

For a trip to Manchester, Kate chose $190 pearl and gold studs by Oscar de la Renta.
