Women's History Month is the perfect time to brush up on your knowledge of small-owned, women-run businesses. These brands each have a story behind them: one of resilience, purpose, and empowerment that inspires people to support. Here, we curated a list of clothing, beauty, and accessory brands we trust to deliver quality items that are also stylish and unique. You may not be familiar with them all, which is why we've also included a bit of backstory, along with a favorite site selection from each of our editors.

From Paloma Lanna's Paloma Wool, you can expect plenty of mesh tees and cozy ribbed sweater sets. Hill House Home, founded by Nell Diamond, has become synonymous with the breezy nap dress, which sells out with each new launch. Marrow Fine creator Jillian Sassone makes out-of-the-box engagement rings for those who prefer an alternative to the classic diamond. Sleeper is the brand we trust for silky, feather-trimmed PJs that double as evening wear when you add a pair of heels. Brother Vellies's Aurora James is probably on your radar already — she started the 15 Percent Pledge, which urges retailers to buy from Black businesses and ensure diversity across the board. Of course, she also designs inventive luxury accessories and shoes crafted by African artisans.

Scroll through for women-led brands you should support, not just this month but every day of the year.

Cultnaked

"I'm a huge fan of Cultnaked's slinky leather sets and sparkly tops. The brand masters evening dressing but also suggests daring ways to dress during the day. The founder is Ukrainian, and I learned that it decided to close its website in support of the civilians, though you can monitor the brand's status on the website." — Shelcy Joseph, editor, Fashion

"Americae was founded by Gabriela Guaracao, who was born in Colombia but raised in the US. In fact, Americae is the Latin word for 'The Americas.' Guaracao draws from both places but is particularly inspired by the Amazonian plants. I fell especially in love with her Raw Emerald Ring ($278), which is special because it's from the Ecosystem collection, incorporating materials from Japan and Milan. Emerald also happens to be my birthstone, and I'm always attracted to imperfections or unique details when it comes to gems." — Sarah Wasilak, senior editor, Fashion

Subsurface

"Kari Fry's goal with the debut of Subsurface the first week of April 2020 was to approach fashion from a slow method, never anticipating the launch coinciding with a pandemic. Now more than ever, her vision for a specially curated wardrobe and only buying pieces that have intention becomes a reality. If the Silk Ribbon Top ($220) and matching Silk Ribbon Pant ($395) was my only luxe, indoor-meets-outdoor outfit until the end of time, I'd be A-OK." — SW

Brow Code

"Celebrity eyebrow stylist Melanie Marris is incredibly passionate about her brand, and it shows. Out of all the impressive products on the site, I'm most fond of the Aftercare Oil ($50), being the minimalist that I am. It helps with nourishment and growth, and it makes me feel effortlessly sexy when I brush it on." — SW
