At 5’2”, only in my wildest dreams did I ever imagine myself walking a legitimate NYC runway in real life. But thanks to SOREL, I can now check that pipe dream off my bucket list. I was honored when the iconic brand chose me, along with 99 other women from all over New York City, to, quite literally, walk a mile in its shoes during an epic runway event. But this was no run-of-the-mill fashion show.
Each of the women rocked footwear from the SOREL Fall collection while we fiercely took the city by storm, turning the Mile-Long event into a celebration of unstoppable women. Yes, I halted traffic, yes, I sent cameras flashing, and yes, I felt empowered and confident every single step of the way.
SOREL is known for its stylish, all-weather designs, and on the runway, I learned firsthand how wildly durable, insanely comfortable, and endlessly versatile these shoes truly are. I wore the Cate Lace Bootie and immediately fell in love. Even the rain didn't stand a chance thanks to its excellent traction and waterproof design. I had been on the hunt for the perfect lace-up boot, and let me tell you, this is it. Available in tan, black, and brown, this dream boot is made of waterproof suede, features a comfy padded footbed, and has a reliable rubber sole that ensures a stable grip.
Off the catwalk, I'm already wearing my boots with leggings, jeans, slip dresses, midi dresses, and miniskirts. But my look for the event was just as inspiring. The show was styled by celebrity stylist Kate Young with apparel provided by Trunk Club, and she had me in the brown Cate boots paired with a cream jumpsuit, a look I can easily see myself wearing to work and then out to dinner in the same day.
The other women's looks were just as chic, as Kate kept them neutral and trend-focused. From joggers to leather skirts and denim overalls, the whole point of the runway show was "function, but make it fashion." During our mile-long catwalk, none of us skipped a beat despite the sudden rain, walking up and down stairs, trekking along The High Line, and stomping through slick cobblestone streets. I could have gone at least three more miles!
Keeping the women-empowerment theme alive even after the show ended, apparel was donated to Dress for Success, a nonprofit organization that provides professional attire for low-income women in order to help support their job search.
This new collection not only provides the quality we've come to love and expect from SOREL but also fills a gap in our closet for fashion-forward, versatile shoes you can easily wear all day long no matter the weather and no matter where the day may take you.
Just ask the stylish attendees of the star-studded event: Katherine Schwarzenegger, Halima Aden, and Joan Smalls, who were all in attendance. Each wore her own pair of SOREL shoes and gave us major style inspo while they were at it.
Halima rocked her Joan of Arctic Wedge II boots with dark skinny jeans, a white turtleneck, and a beige wrap jacket — perfect for a busy day running around the city.
Katherine was dressed in head-to-toe black along with black Cate Lace Booties, an outfit ideal for owning your next business meeting. Meanwhile, Joan made her Blake Lace Booties look fiercer than ever combined with tan shorts and an elevated white hoodie while simultaneously giving us a masterclass in polished off-duty style.
A shoe for every style, occasion, and outfit, SOREL has officially mastered the runway. I'll take one of each, please!
