'90s Kids Will Definitely Recognize the Inspiration Behind This New Chicago Diner

Fans of the quintessential early '90s show Saved by the Bell will probably remember feeling a deep desire to hang at the Max after school with Zack, Jessie, Kelly, and the rest of the gang. While it's been over two decades since the show's final episode, that dream is finally becoming reality.

Derek Berry — the creator of the popular nail-salon-meets-lounge Beauty Bar — is launching a pop-up restaurant inspired by the show's fictional near-campus hangout called Saved by the Max. The restaurant features cheeky menu items like the AC Slider and Mac and Screech, as well as cocktails like the I'm So Excited — inspired by Jessie's caffeine pill meltdown.

The decor is also eerily spot-on. There's a dining corner that looks exactly like Principal Belding's office, as well as a locker-lined hallway that is pretty identical to the Bayside High presented in the show. It even has a glass case filled with fan collectibles and relics!

Located at 1941 W. North Ave. in Chicago, Saved by the Max is open today until Aug. 31. The restaurant strongly encourages making a reservation in advance due to expected frenzy. To make a reservation, simply purchase a $35 ticket that includes one appetizer, entrée, and dessert.
