This Airy Abode Makes a Case For White-on-White Decor

In the living area Troy and I wanted a look that was livable, inviting and having a very clean simple yet elegant look to it. We chose two linen sofas facing one another, with a very heavy restored wood coffee table in-between.

I really loved the sturdy feel of the design in the room, but still wanted a bit of old hollywood elegance with a touch of Morocco. Now that I write it out, it sounds a little odd. But it worked!

Touches of gold throughout, abstract art work by Sarah Swanson, gorgeous lighting, a moroccan shag rug, a couple white poufs, and loads of pillows and we were set! The styling of this area was key, since it could have easily resembled a big Hollywood blvd meets Moroccan mess.

Our dining area consists of a large restored wood table. It's both manly and feminine all at the same time. I especially fell in love with the whimsical legs finished off with gorgeous white Louis leather chairs. Although, I must say the main focal points are the Victorian pendants above the table. Again, both manly and feminine all in one! They absolutely make the space.

Right off the dining room is our kitchen. While designing our kitchen, all I knew was that I wanted lots of white, marble and tons of storage space. Oh, and an enormous farmhouse sink. And that's exactly what we got! I truly believe the kitchen should be the most gorgeous space in your home. We spend a lot of time here and we absolutely adore it. We love to entertain, to cook, and we especially love a delicious homemade meal. Yep, sometimes that includes Trader Joe's oven cooked pizza!

Figuring out what we wanted in all our finishings and details when building was a bit of a challenge. I had hundreds of photos pinned on Pinterest and was all of a sudden not so convinced about what exactly it is that I wanted. I loved white (obviously), but I wasn't sure if I was ready to make the all-white-everywhere plunge.

That's when Stephanie of Stephanie Jean Design stepped in. She really helped nail down paint color (do you KNOW how many shades of white there are??), to convincing me that a subway tile backsplash is just as fabulous as marble herringbone (well, almost). Since this was our first home, our budget was not exactly Pinterest friendly. But I'm proof that all white, all marble, hardwood floors, and designer lighting doesn't have to mean hundreds of thousands of dollars! You just need to know where to splurge and where to save.

Our gallery wall down the hallway in our entrance is perfect in my eyes. It was exactly what I visualized. Inspired by a huge wall at Club Monaco here in Vancouver, I knew I wanted to recreate a similar look in our own home. We sourced black frames of all sizes to display black and white photos of some of our favourite memories. In the middle you'll find a framed Hermes scarf that was a gift from my mom for my 28th Birthday. The big H represents the iconic brand, but also acts as a Hibbs crest in our home. It took hours, days, weeks to complete, with endless trips looking for the perfect size frame. But all that work paid off as it was one of the most rewarding projects! While completing the gallery wall we added the wainscotting down the run of the wall, as well as installing the tree benson pendants from restoration hardware. It no longer looks like a boring big blank white wall.

The master bathroom is super elegant, simple and clean. We stuck with ongoing theme of the marble countertops and wainscotting finishing of the rest of the house. Troy and I especially loved the look of two mirrors above our own sinks framed with two simple light sconces. The huge shower and soaker tub are always an added bonus and make for an extra inviting space.

Our master bedroom is everything and more. Everything from the Barbara Berry bedding, to the Designers Guild pillow, to the Robert Abbey scalloped light pendant. We wanted it to feel like a dream, a place to complete escape and wake up to bright sunlight. We bought the tufted head board and the light pendant before we even officially started building the house, that's how excited I was about this room! It is the best room in the house to read a book, cuddle into an endless amount of pillows and totally check out.
