Get Ready to Perrear Through the Summer With Residente and Bad Bunny’s New Track “Bellacoso”

Residente and Bad Bunny released a new single called "Bellacoso." After taking part in the 12 days of protests in Puerto Rico demanding for the resignation of Governor Ricardo Rosselló, René Pérez Joglar, also known as Residente, delivered on his promise of a new track showcasing the rapper's authentic reggaeton roots, while announcing his second solo album for later this year.

"Bellacoso" features Bad Bunny, who was also seen protesting alongside Residente. He's been using his social media channels to encourage Puerto Rico, while making a call to politicians to govern better and honestly — because this was just a taste of the power of the people. The release of this track was put on hold to focus on the protests, but as Bad Bunny said on his Instagram, "Estamos en victoria!" as he encouraged everyone to celebrate Puerto Rico's victory with this track.

The lyrics illustrate the artists not only having fun but, but embracing self-expression, and breaking societal barriers through satire. "Bellacoso," an inventive slang term, embodies and personifies social acceptance and personal approval.

The music video is a feast for the eyes and a celebration of diversity and inclusivity. From skin tones to body shape to different hair, no one was forgotten or excluded, and it beautifully represented the mix of the people of Puerto Rico and the Caribbean. The video was filmed in Puerto Rico by Paris-based cinematographer and award-winning music video director Gregory Ohrel, it was conceptualized by Residente, and produced alongside Trooko.

Residente will continue to work on his second solo album, which will focus conceptually on the frequency that the human body operates from. Through brain waves and frequency, Residente connects on both a scientific and emotional vibe with collaborating artists inspiring the creation soulful music.
