Should You Bill Wedding Guests Who Can't Attend?

This Couple Broke the Biggest Rule of Wedding Etiquette

Weddings are expensive — we get it, and it's inevitable that some guests will bail last minute. But one newlywed couple just couldn't bear to shake off those expenses. An invited wedding guest, Jessica Baker, planned to attend but was forced to suddenly find a babysitter the day of. She was unable to reach out to the bride and groom, so she and her date ended up staying home instead.

Two weeks later, however, Jessica received an invoice in the mail stating:

"This cost reflects the amount paid by the bride and groom for meals that were RSVP'd for, reimbursement and explanation for no show, card, call or text would be appreciated."

The bill's total amounted to $75.90 for two (uneaten) herb crusted walleyes and a service and tax fee. Although Jessica doesn't plan to pay for the ridiculous charge, it's shocking to see a fundamental rule of wedding etiquette be broken. Do you think the bride and groom were in the right or wrong?
