Military Husband's Mid-Photo Shoot Reaction to Wife's Rainbow Baby Pregnancy Is Too Pure

Ben Brown thought he was in for a regular ol' couple's photo shoot when he and his wife Lindsey arrived to a lakeside venue back in August 2017. But Lindsey had quite the surprise up her sleeve, and their photographer was present to capture Ben's candid reaction to his wife's incredibly crafty plot twist.

The Pennsylvania couple wed on July 2, 2016, and five days later, they packed their bags and moved to Anchorage, AK, where Ben was stationed for the army. The following year, the two were ecstatic to find out that they were pregnant with their first child, only to be absolutely crushed two months later to learn that Lindsey had miscarried at nine weeks. On top of that, Ben had also just learned that he would be deployed to Afghanistan for nine months to a year.

"Knowing he would be gone a lot for pre-deployment training between April and when he left in September, we didn't think it was likely I would get pregnant again before he left, and figured we'd have to wait another year to even start trying for a baby again," Lindsey explained in a post for Love What Matters. "We were completely devastated."

Multiple negative pregnancy tests later and with Ben's deployment quickly approaching, Lindsey scheduled a photo shoot so they could have some new pictures taken as a keepsake. Just three days before the shoot and a few weeks prior to Ben's deployment, the military wife got the surprise of a lifetime: she was pregnant again! "When I found out I was pregnant with our rainbow baby, it felt like we were given another chance," Lindsey told us of her initial reaction to the positive test.

Rather than telling Ben the thrilling news, she emailed the photographer, Melissa Lawrence, and arranged to make it a mid-photo shoot surprise. Lindsey admitted to POPSUGAR that she was "so nervous" on the day of the shoot because she thought Ben somehow knew the news already. But he sure didn't! The two had planned to use whiteboards to write three things they love about each other. Whereas Ben wrote the words "smart," "funny," and "gorgeous," Lindsey covered her whiteboard with the words "We are having a baby!"

"When we finally turned around, his jaw dropped!" Lindsey told us. "He had no idea!! We were both just overwhelmed with excitement." The photographer said Ben's reaction was completely candid, adding that "his surprise face was priceless, and his eyes filled with joyful tears."

Lindsey told POPSUGAR she's due with a baby girl on May 3 and that Ben is planning to come home early from Afghanistan for her arrival. Keep reading to see their adorable photo shoot, which just might make you tear up with feelings of pure joy. Congrats to the happy, expectant couple!
