Ben Carson Comments on Gay Marriage in the GOP Debate
Ben Carson Tells Us How He Really Feels About Gay Marriage

Republican presidential candidate (and current frontrunner) Ben Carson is no stranger to controversial, often un-PC statements: remember when he implied that prison turns people gay? Or when he compared women who have abortions to slave owners? And his GOP debate performance tonight was no exception.
When asked why he serves on Costco's board, despite the fact that the company supports gay rights, he explained that he does believe the Constitution protects everybody, regardless of their sexual orientation. BUT, he says, "I also believe that marriage is between one man and one woman. And there is no reason that you can't be perfectly fair to the gay community. They shouldn't automatically assume that because you assume marriage is between one man and one woman that you are a homophobe. This is one of the myths that the left perpetrates on our society and to get people to shut up. That's what the PC culture is all about, and it's destroying the nation. We the American people are not each other's enemies. It's those people who are trying to divide us who are the enemies."
Considering that a majority of Americans support gay marriage — 55%, according to a Pew study from earlier this year — Carson's statements put him pretty far out of step with most of the country. What do you think? Did Carson just add more nuance to his position on gay marriage, or is he hurting his chances with the American majority?
