Bus Driver Fired For Spilling Water on Student's Head

This Bus Driver Was Finally Fired After a Parent Released a Video of Her Outrageous Behavior

An Idaho bus driver named Mary Black has been fired after a video posted to social media captured her pouring water on a student's head. Jerome High School freshman Brayan Alverez shot the video, according to local station KTVB, which shows Black getting into an argument with eighth-grader Miguel Martinez and holding a water bottle over Martinez's head.

Alverez said Black had blamed Martinez for throwing the bottle and became upset when he refused to give his phone to her. In the video, Black chastises Martinez for speaking Spanish, saying, "I don't understand Spanish and I'm not going to learn it. I live in America and it's an English-speaking country, so if you want to speak to me, you speak to me in English."

Juan Espino, a family friend of Alverez, posted the video of the incident online because he said Black has behaved this way before but never been caught; she's spoken to his son in a similar manner, Espino told KTVB. "He told me he was told by the bus driver that it was not allowed to speak in Spanish while riding the bus," Espino said. He added that he had previously complained to the Northside Bus Company but that the company said there was no evidence on the bus tapes. Espino said other students told him that Black would turn off the bus cameras when she would speak this way to the kids and he wanted her to finally be held accountable for her actions.

"It's not something that we wish for, and not something that I would want to, but there will be consequences in everything that you do in life will be consequences," Espino told KTVB.

We have contacted the Northside Bus Company for comment and will update this story if we hear back.
