Announcing the Democratic Super Tuesday Winners

Hillary Clinton swept Super Tuesday, winning eight out of 12 Democratic contests. She beat Bernie Sanders in the Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Massachusetts, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, and American Samoa elections, according to The New York Times. Unsurprisingly, Sanders won the vote in his home state of Vermont, as well as Colorado, Minnesota, and Oklahoma.
Super Tuesday is a major voting event where several states cast their votes for the presidential nomination in a single day — 865 Democratic delegates will be allocated based on the results. On the other side of the election, 661 Republican delegates are on the table; you can see the results from that contest here.
Clinton was predicted as a Super Tuesday favorite, especially among Southern states. The large concentration of black voters in the South is one of the major factors in this prediction, given Clinton's favorable history with black voters. Indeed, exit polls in Virginia indicate that she garnered over 80 percent of the state's black vote. Also as predicted, Sanders swept the youth vote in Vermont among voters under 45 years old.
Earlier in the night, Sanders took to the stage in Vermont to thank voters. "It is good to be home!" he told a cheering crowd, adding, "This campaign is not just about electing a president; it is about transforming America. It is about making our great country the nation that we know it has the potential to be."
Clinton also celebrated with a cheeky tweet and a victory speech.

She said, "We don't need to make America great again. America never stopped being great. We need to make America whole." Taking another apparent jab at Donald Trump's rhetoric, Clinton emphasized the need to disrupt barriers dividing the country. "America needs more love and kindness," she said. "Instead of building walls, we'll break down barriers and build ladders of opportunity and empowerment so each American can live up to their potential."
