- There's more trouble in Trump land. The Republican nominee caused drama over the weekend by suggesting that the election is rigged because the media and Democratic party are conspiring against him. GOP leaders pushed back on the claim, afraid that it will cause voters to stay home on election day. Others are concerned Trump won't accept the election results if he loses, but his running mate, Mike Pence, told NBC's Meet the Press that Trump will "absolutely accept the result of the election."
- The University of Virginia fraternity that was at the center of a gang rape allegation published by Rolling Stone will have its day in court this week. In 2014, the magazine published a report that was widely discredited for relying on the alleged victim's story without confirming any details. The frat, Phi Kappa Psi, is suing the magazine for defamation and is seeking $25 million in damages. Rolling Stone is facing another lawsuit from an associate dean at the university who says the magazine wrongfully suggested that she silenced the story's victim.
- In better news, the national high school graduation rate has hit a record high of 83.2 percent. President Obama made the announcement regarding the 2014 to 2015 school year on Monday, saying he was happy with the results but there was still work to do to make sure every student graduates.
- To almost no one's surprise, The Walking Dead has just been renewed for an eighth season. Fans of the show are eagerly awaiting season seven, which returns next Sunday, so they can finally learn more about the cliffhanger that ended season six.
- This won't be an easy battle. Today, a coalition of Kurdish fighters, Iraqi soldiers, and American air support launched an offensive to retake Mosul, Iraq's second largest city, which has been controlled by ISIS since June 2014. Over a million people live in Mosul and the United Nations warns that several hundred thousand could be displaced by the fighting.
- Is this what Trump will do if he loses the election? The GOP nominee is looking into opening his own news channel if Hillary Clinton wins in November, according to a Financial Times report. Jared Kushner, Trump's son-in-law who is married to Ivanka, has reportedly been in talks with media industry executives about the prospect of a Trump television channel.
