Students Leave Post-It Notes on Lockers After Suicide

What These Teenagers Did After a Schoolmate Committed Suicide Will Leave You in Happy Tears

Students at Mason High School near Cincinnati arrived to school on Tuesday morning to find Post-its with messages like "You are strong," "You are courageous," and "You are unbreakable" on their lockers. It was the beautiful work of five teenage girls who wanted to cheer up their community after a student's recent suicide.

"After this tragedy hit, everyone was hit pretty hard," Erica English, one of the girls, told ABC News. "We just want everyone to know that you're not alone and you're loved."

She — along with Anna Aronson, Michelle Crispin, Ellie Uematsu, and Jessica Morse — spent almost eight hours writing the more than 3,600 notes until Monday night at 10 p.m. They also left them on the doors and desks of teachers and administrators.

Mason City Schools shared several photos of their kind act on Facebook, which is gaining attention with more than 1,000 reactions, almost 200 shares, and dozens of comments. One read, "I absolutely love that you found a way to channel pain into hope and inspiration! You girls are amazing role models of goodness and love."

One student also posted a tweet showing appreciation.

The school's principal, Dave Hyatt, told ABC how much their efforts meant to him. "It literally lightened the entire building's heart," he said. "It felt like this huge weight had just been lifted on Tuesday morning."
