Despite promoting a campaign based on ridding Washington of political insiders, Donald Trump's cabinet is already shaping up to be stacked with longtime DC players. On Sunday, Trump announced that RNC Chairman Reince Priebus would be his chief of staff. But perhaps more shocking was Trump's decision to make Stephen Bannon his senior counselor to the White House. Bannon, who worked on the campaign as Trump's chief executive, is also the executive chairman of the conservative media organization Breitbart and has been heavily criticized for his ties to hate groups.
In more election news: Trump is facing a different type of apprenticeship. The Wall Street Journal reports that President Obama plans to spend more time than normal with the president-elect to prepare him for the position since Trump has no experience in politics. According to The WSJ, Trump's aides were unaware that they had to replace Obama's entire staff before Trump takes office.
After a 10-year absence, Dave Chappelle returned to TV on Saturday night to host Saturday Night Live, and people were ecstatic. The comedian's reemergence could not have been better timed: Chappelle's opening monologue addressed Trump's election, and he offered hope for the uncertain future, saying he was "wishing Donald Trump luck."
