How to Throw a Backyard Camping Party

How to Transform Your Backyard Into an Overnight Camping Party

The best part of sleeping out under the stars is sharing it with friends and family, so we've partnered with Gold Peak Tea to help you bring the fun of camping to your own backyard.

There’s something special about sleeping under the stars. You don’t have to drive to the nearest park to get your camping fix: instead, throw a camping-themed party in your backyard!

This bash has it all: the tent, outdoor activities, treats cooked over a campfire, ice-cold Gold Peak Tea, and all your friends and family. Once you’ve added a few DIY decorations, you might even forget you’re in your own backyard. So invite your nearest and dearest, bust out the refreshments, and prepare for an outdoor event unlike anything you’ve ever experienced.

Pitch (and Decorate!) the Tent

Turn your trusty camping tent into a rustic-chic party space with a few homey touches. String brightly hued paper bunting from the tent poles for some festive flair. Serve your friends and family crowd-pleasing Gold Peak Tea in mason jars to stick with the camping theme.

Fluffy pillows and cozy blankets do double duty as both makeshift seating and slumber party supplies. Plus, if anyone decides to forgo sleeping under the stars, all the creature comforts of your home are only a few steps away.

Light the Night
Once darkness falls, you’ll need more than the moon to light your way. Make DIY lanterns by stacking glow-stick bracelets inside mason jars, then arranging them around the campsite. Little ones will love helping with this craft and seeing their creations come to life after dark!
Crazy Light-Up Lawn Bowling

Keep the fun going well into the night with a glow-in-the-dark version of a beloved lawn game. Make these neon bowling pins in just a few minutes with upcycled materials.

You’ll need: 10 empty Gold Peak Tea bottles, water, 30 glow sticks, and one small ball.

Instructions: Fill each empty bottle with water. Crack the glow sticks to activate them, then drop three to four into each bottle.

Set up the pins at one end of your lawn, then roll the ball toward them just like you would in a bowling alley. The same scoring and rules apply. See if you can get a strike!

Serve Campfire-Inspired Treats

Instead of standard s'mores, treat your guests to these banana boats filled with toasted marshmallows, melted dark chocolate, crunchy walnuts, and fresh strawberries. They have the same ooey-gooey appeal as the classic camping treat, but are much less messy. Get the recipe here.
