11 Reasons Singapore Needs to Be Next on Your Bucket List

I may be a little biased, as some of my fondest childhood memories are of living in Singapore, but it really is a country with so much to offer. It's often seen as a quick stopover destination on a longer journey, with the only tourist attraction being the iconic Marina Bay Sands. While I'll admit that it is a must see, there are an abundance of other attractions to keep you busy during your trip. And hopefully with the popularity of Crazy Rich Asians, which was mostly filmed in Singapore, even more travelers will add it to their bucket lists. From incredible local shopping centers to impressive eating spots, this might just convince you to give Singapore more than a day next time you're traveling to the other side of the world.

The Singapore Grand Prix

The only Grand Prix that takes place in the dark, there's nothing quite like the atmosphere of watching the race at night on the streets of Singapore.

Gardens By the Bay

The Gardens By the Bay is an award-winning nature park located behind Marina Bay Sands. You can walk around the grounds and the cooled conservatories and even walk up and along the supertrees to get a better view.

Marina Bay Sands

Marina Bay Sands has arguably one of the most picturesque infinity pools on the globe. The hotel is home to not only the incredible pool, but also a bar that anyone can visit to soak up the views, a shopping center like no other (it has a river running through it), and one of the most iconic casinos in the world.

1-Altitude

1-Altitude is the world's tallest al fresco bar and the views do not disappoint. With panoramic scenery of Marina Bay Sands, the Singapore Flyer, and the ArtScience Museum, you'll definitely be able to get a snap for Instagram up here.

The Airport

I'm not joking when I say Singapore Changi airport is as an enjoyable experience as the rest of the country. The airport boasts multiple gardens throughout the building, bringing the outside tranquility of the country inside, as well as, a cinema, spa, 3D artwork, and even a slide!

Night Safari

A zoo with a difference. The Singapore Night Safari is home to some of the cutest animals that you probably won't have heard of before, like the mouse deer; seriously, it's adorable. Take a ride on a minibus with a tour guide showing you around the park with all of the animals that come out to play at night.

The Mustafa Centre

In Little India, you'll find one of the busiest, most fascinating shopping centers ever, the Mustafa Center. This 24-hour shopping experience is unlike any you've had before and, in my opinion, is best experienced late at night. This six-level building offers everything from jewelry, clothes, electronics, food, plants, and wheelchairs to washing machines. If you need something, the Mustafa Center likely has 12 different options.

Little India

Little India is full of pretty buildings and art, tiny restaurants, and beautiful architecture.

Universal Studios

Who wouldn't want to stop at Universal Studios while visiting a different country? My favourite thing about Universal in Singapore is that it's far less busy than other theme parks, but doesn't lack any of the charm.

Sentosa Island

If you find yourself wanting to retreat from the hustle and bustle of the city, take a short 15-minute journey to Sentosa, an island resort of the south coast of the country. You can find beaches, nature walks, Universal Studios, an aquarium, and cable cars to keep you entertained.

Clarke Quay

Clarke Quay is where you can go to get the best chilli crab and craft beer. It comes alive at night and is a hub of restaurants and vibrant bars.
