How to Have the Ultimate Star Wars Day at Disney World

Imagine shooting blasters at stormtroopers or fighting off Kylo Ren while training to be a Jedi or getting pictures with BB-8! All of that is possible in a galaxy near you at Walt Disney World. Hollywood Studios has become to place to be for any one who loves Star Wars. In celebration of our favorite galactic series, we've compiled a list of things you have to do for the ultimate Star Wars day at Disney World.

Located at Disney Springs, The Void is bringing you into the story of Star Wars with the Secrets of the Empire Hyper-Reality Experience. You don what is very similar to a laser tag vest and a virtual reality helmet to go on a mission with Cassian Andor and K-2SO from Rogue One. You'll encounter friends of the Empire and be transported via lightspeed all around the galaxy while you're on your mission. This experience is not one to be missed! While getting to and parking at Disney Springs is free, the experience starts at $30. You can prebuy tickets or purchase once you get to Disney Springs.

The rest of our ultimate Star Wars day list takes place at Hollywood Studios. If you're going to be coming from Disney Springs and The Void, you can take a bus or drive, but you will need a valid theme park ticket to get into Hollywood Studios.

For your young padawans between the ages of 4 and 12, Jedi Training is sure to be the highlight of their day! During this experience, kids will be paraded through Hollywood Studios to a stage located next to Star Tours. They will be taught how to use the Force and safely wield lightsabers. They are going to need that training because the temple grounds open up and they will have to fight off Star Wars villains like Darth Vader and Kylo Ren.

If your child wants to participate in the Jedi Training, you will need to register them at the Indiana Jones Outpost Adventure, which is located between the Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular! and 50's Prime Time Cafe. The registration opens when the park opens, so be there early, as all spots are first-come, first-served. Your child must be present when you register them. If you really want to get into this experience, make a breakfast reservation for Hollywood and Vine for 8 a.m., which is before park opening, except on Extra Magic Hours days, and be one of the first to register after you're done with your meal.

Every hour on the hour from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. at Hollywood Studios, the March of the First Order takes place. You'll hear the music start on Hollywood Boulevard, which is the main road into and out of the park. Captain Phasma and a squad of stormtroopers march up Hollywood Boulevard, then stop where Hollywood and Sunset meet to do a small crowd interaction, then continue up to Center Stage by the Chinese Theater. If you want really great photos of Captain Phasma, there is a white line painted on the ground on Hollywood Boulevard. Line up on the sidewalk directly across from where the line ends, on the left side of the road, and she will come very close to you.

The Star Wars Launch Bay is the place to be if you love meeting characters or looking at movie props. Once you pass under the Launch Bay sign, you can choose your path to start with a 10-minute film, which talks about the impact that Star Wars has had on pop culture, the future of Star Wars, and interviews with top executives at Lucas Films. Then, once you go inside the gallery, you can explore different props and models from the Star Wars films, which leads down into the character meet-and-greet area. In the Launch Bay, there are three different meet and greet locations for Chewbacca, Kylo Ren, and BB-8. If you have a Disney Visa credit card, you can meet Kylo Ren in a separate area, with usually a much shorter wait! Ask any cast member working inside and they can direct you to the location of the meet and greet.

The ultimate Star Wars day has to include a ride on Star Tours. This 3D motion simulator will take you to planets all over the galaxy! With the announcement of Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge coming to Hollywood Studios and Star Wars: The Last Jedi premiering, two new ride sequences have been added to the attraction. You never know what combination of stories you could get. For the extra ultimate experience, you'll want to ride this one twice! Who knows, you could visit Crait from The Last Jedi, The Death Star, or even Batuu on the Galaxy's Edge!

After all of the fun, you'll probably be getting hungry. Right next to Star Tours is a quick-service restaurant called Backlot Express. Here you'll find Dark Side Chicken and Waffles! It's the same delicious Mickey waffles that you might get with breakfast, but made into round waffles with Darth Vader on them, served with chicken nuggets and maple syrup. The adult meal costs $11, but the kids' meal, which is plenty big enough to feed an adult, is $8 and it comes with yogurt, carrot sticks, and a drink.

Showing at least five times a day, Star Wars: A Galaxy Far Far Away is a celebration of light and dark side friends. This is located on Center Stage on Hollywood Boulevard. This is the only time during the day you will see characters like Rey, Darth Maul, and Boba Fett all in one place. The show lasts about 20 minutes, and if you wait until after the show is over and head back toward the Launch Bay, you'll see the characters all walk by in a parade of galactic friends and foes.

There are a ton of Star Wars photo ops all around Hollywood Studios. Some are permanent and some are temporary as the park gets ready to open up two new lands. You're going to want to get pictures outside of the Launch Bay. There are usually a few PhotoPass cast members walking around with lightsabers waiting to take guests' photos. Then, over by Star Tours, there is a speeder bike just as if you were going between trees on Endor. Lastly, down by Baseline Tap House, the construction wall for Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge is up, but there is a beautiful artist's rendering of what the land is going to look like. There is usually a PhotoPass cast member here as well.

As it starts to get later in the day, stormtroopers will come out of the Launch Bay to interact and take pictures with guests. This is an unscheduled event, so it doesn't always happen, though most days at Hollywood Studios it does. Stormtroopers will be walking around between the Launch Bay and the Chinese Theater. This is not a standard meet and greet, and there is no PhotoPass cast member to assist you with photos. The great thing about this is how interactive the stormtroopers are with everyone. From telling jokes to moving people along, it's just fun to go and watch them for a little while.

To top off you ultimate Star Wars day, you're going to need to see Star Wars: A Galactic Spectacular. This fireworks and projection show takes place to Hollywood Boulevard and the Chinese Theater. It's a good idea to get a seat anywhere from 45 minutes to an hour early depending on how busy the park is the day your adventure takes place. This show takes guests through all eight movies in the Luke Skywalker saga and Rogue One. The best seats are either directly in front of the theater or just off to the left toward the Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular! area. Viewing from the right side of the theater toward the Brown Derby can give more of a blocked view.
