Remember the video about a dog who becomes so sad when its owner leaves for the day? This will no longer be much of a problem thanks to several new gadgets from this year's Consumer Electronics Show.
One product is all about your pet taking selfies and sending them to you. Another lets you give a treat or say hello to your buddy from afar. Others are about keeping your furry best friend healthy and happy. Look ahead to see what items you'll want this year and beyond.
Petbot Smartphone
It’s about time for pets to take selfies, don’t ya think? With PetBot ($189), they finally can. This is essentially a smartphone for pets that can sense when your dog or cat is near the device and snap a photo. You can also watch them through the camera, call them so they can hear your voice, and give them a treat.
Smartbowl Feeding Device
Feed your pet only what they need with SmartBowl ($40, available spring 2016). With the Petnet app, you’ll learn to serve the right amount of food to your pet. If you add in too much, the bowl will light up red to let you know. The app also alerts you to feed your pet at certain times or if food is low, and it will automatically reorder supplies when necessary.
Petcube Camera and Video Recorder
PawCams Wearable Camera
Get a little insight into the life of your dog with PawsCam. It’s a device that attaches to your dog’s collar and records video only when there is movement. You can then view the video from any device like a tablet or smartphone. If you’re not anywhere near WiFi, the video will still record but instead upload it to the cloud when you’re back on WiFi. No word yet on when how much PawsCam will cost or arrive in stores.
Canhe-Fit Activity Tracker
Keep your pet healthy and fit with Canhe-Fit. It’s a wearable item that keeps track of how much your pet is exercising and moving around. Once it analyzes that data, you’ll get nutrition recommendations to ensure your pet continues living a happy life. No price yet, but it will be available September 2016.
