PlayStation and Xbox Attacked on Christmas By Grinch Hackers
A group of hackers has set its sights on PlayStation, and it's serious. They call themselves LizardSquad, a group that previously claimed responsibility for taking PlayStation Network offline. Hackers hit Xbox and Sony on Christmas Day with attacks that took down both services. On Friday, Xbox Live was up and running, while PlayStation Network continued to suffer network issues.
In August, the same group targeted a flight with Sony Online Entertainment executive John Smedley on board. The group tweeted that the plane had explosives planted and included a photo of an eticket for the flight. The executive then received direct tweets with the hashtag #PrayForFlight362 and a video of a plane crashing into the World Trade Center from Sept. 11. American Airlines took action immediately and diverted the flight from San Diego to Phoenix to perform a full search of the plane and its passengers.
