When it comes to styling a home, a rug is often the unsung hero. It anchors a room, sets the tone for your space, and if you choose the right one, it can even feel like an extension of your personality. That is what makes Ruggable's latest collaboration so exciting. It is the brand's first ever Australian partnership, bringing together some of the country's top design talent to create a collection that feels personal, stylish and functional.
The Ruggable x The Local Project collection spotlights the work of celebrated studios including Tom Mark Henry, Brahman Perera and AKI Design. Each studio brings its own perspective, drawing on travel, architecture, family history and the landscapes around them. The result is rugs that look like art but are designed to be lived with. The best part? You do not need to panic if life gets messy, because every rug in the collection is fully washable.
Rugs, But Make Them Personal

For Tom Mark Henry (TMH), the design process began with a simple idea: home is deeply personal, so rugs should be too. "We were inspired by the coastline and landscape for the collection," TMH Director Cushla McFadden explained. "We looked at naturally occurring colours and shapes found in our surrounding environment and drew upon these."
That sense of connection is easy to see in the finished product. TMH's rugs are not just floor coverings you throw down and forget about. They are mood-setters. They tell a story that you get to shape, whether you place one under your dining table, in your bedroom or right in the centre of your living space. These rugs are designed to adapt to your lifestyle, not the other way around.
Art Meets Everyday Life

Rugs are often seen as background players in a room, but this collection gives them a starring role. McFadden described starting with five design directions before working with the Ruggable team to refine them down to something that felt both artistic and versatile. "Once we had landed on a clear direction and aesthetic, we explored patterns and colour palettes which resonated with both the TMH studio and the narrative of the collection," she shared.
The result is a colour palette that feels grounded but never boring. Warm stone, golden ochre, deep indigo, ivory and soft sapphire all feature throughout the designs. They are timeless enough to slot into a minimalist home, yet rich enough to make a statement in a bolder setting. As McFadden puts it, "The designs are contemporary yet would easily find themselves at home in a more classic or traditional setting."
The Practicality Bonus

Of course, all the beauty in the world does not mean much if a rug cannot survive real life. That is where Ruggable's technology changes the game. These rugs are built for every day, not just for show. Whether it is a glass of red wine, muddy paw prints or the chaos of kids running through the house, every rug in the collection is machine washable. Toss it in the wash, lay it back down and it is as good as new. It is like having a piece of art in your home that you never need to tiptoe around.
The Ruggable x The Local Project collection proves that rugs do not just complete a room. They can ground memories, reflect personal style and still stand up to everyday life. Whether you are drawn to the earthy palette, the layered textures or simply the fact that you can toss them in the wash, this collaboration is where style and function finally meet in the middle.
