The cast of The Big Short snagged the ensemble performance award, but one star of the film was notably missing: Ryan Gosling. Steve Carell did not miss a beat in acknowledging the absentee actor. "Ben won this award a few years ago and insisted everyone call him 'The Chairman,' so I'm going to follow suit," he said. "Ben's gonna refer to me as 'The Chairman' for at least a week."

The impeccable Cate Blanchett was given her Desert Palm achievement award by her former Hanna costar Saoirse Ronan. After accepting the honor, Cate informed the young star: "Thank you, Saoirse.
